Jimbo leaving FSU for A&M
Kelly leaving ND for LSU
Riley leaving OU for SC (though some might argue they're equal)
Fran leaving Bama for A&M
R. Rod leaving Bama for WVU (though he didn't actually coach at Bama)

Probably many more.

Leaving a playoff host team to go coach a seven and five team is the only one I can think of recently.

But OP thinks LSU is a better job than Notre Dame.

Indeed. This place is known for bad takes and this one is well within the top ten for this week.

Nick Saban leaving LSU for that NFL job. He found out that NFL players don't listen to head coaches.

I think Saban is the only coach @ LSU who hasn't been fired and pretty much had their career ended in the past 40 years.

They aren’t even in the same conversation - not now, not ever. Notre Dame has a rich history and is probably the biggest brand in CFB. No one is making movies about LSU.

To consider yourselves equals, let alone loftier than, is absolutely delusional.

And frick you for making me say nice things about Notre Dame.

Like I said, just depends on what you value.

If a coach wants to be associated with history and a great brand, then he should go to Notre Dame.

If he wants to win a natty, he should go to LSU.

Dont know how Kiffin is gonna do but if he flames out like Kelly did....LSU is gonna be the same program it was in the 90's. Recruiting will drop off significantly and it will be a long time before they come back. Two swing for the fences hires with Kelly and Kiffin and both fail can doom a program.

I think Kelly is right there at close to the top with leaving a program for a worst one. I mean the dude was coming off an 11-1 season and had made the playoffs and a National Championship game appearance while at Notre Dame. He got a huge contract and thought LSU would be loaded with talent. He knew the writing was on the wall when he won 10 games each of his first 2 seasons and still couldnt even win a conference title but even bigger than that was not being able to do shite with Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels. Ive always said about Notre Dame....we get great players and recruiting classes but we never get that great quarterback for some reason. Go look at our #2 recruiting class and all the 5 star and 4 star players.....none of them are a QB. We never get a Burrow or Jayden Daniels....Vince Young or Cam Newton....Jamies Winston....ect. If we ever do....we'll finally win another Natty. Lets see if Kiffin can win 10 games each of his first 2 years coming out of the gate at LSU like Kelly did.

Technicality but in '95 UGA hired Glen Mason, who later reneged and stayed at Kansas.

and yet the totally inexperienced guy that eventually replaced him won 10 games (and a NYD bowl) just three years later
