Tupa had to come in for the Jets at QB in a game vs the Pats as Testaverde got hurt and they didn’t have a backup QB active. He ended up 6-10 for 165 and 2 TDs. Link to story about it-

Who was that super tall Arkansas QB?
One responder said Matt Jones, but Ryan Mallett also meets these qualifications.

Going back through this thread after reading Murph's comment about Russell Athletic jerseys, and had to pause for a moment to appreciate this picture.

Bokeh photography style, both feet off the ground in a perfect trading card pose.

Crisp white Champion jersey, Schutt (or Bike?) AiR helmet, Wilson TDS composite football.

I'm not sure, but possibly those old white hightop Bike turf cleats.

And speaking of the turf, look at that shite — AstroTurf carpet as thin as paper, already coming apart at the seams, and you just know it feels like you're getting slammed into absolute concrete. I can feel the turf burns through the screen.

That is like the late '80s to early '90s encapsulated so much in one single, amazing image.

This description is perfect.

Played at Lawson Field three times in high school. First two game were on the astroturf they had down. Had to play those games in sneakers. Senior year we played Woodlawn there and they had put down field turf. Much better.

This is amazing. I either have somehow never heard about this guy, or it's something my brain just decided to forget.

And what a perfect segue for 'ol Vinny Testaverde.

Probably already mentioned by other Texas posters, but..

Matt Nordgren

Backed up Vince Young in the 04 Rose Bowl vs Michigan and 05 Rose Bowl Championship game vs USC. His claim to fame (other than being in some sort of reality tv show after his playing days) was fumbling the ball, having a lucky bounce back to himself and scoring on the same play vs Baylor.

Jamie Howard, although Auburn may remember him since he single handedly won them the the game in 1994.

Here is some crazy stats (like the 5 INTS in the 4th quarter and the 3 INTs returned for TDs LINK

But I especially like this one:
quote:

Using the NFL’s formula for QB rating, Howard would’ve had a more efficient day if he would have spiked all 41 of his pass attempts.

Howard’s 18-of-41 passing performance for 280 yards, one touchdown and six interceptions results in an NFL quarterback rating of 35.7. An 0-for-41 day for zero yards and zero interceptions results in an NFL quarterback rating of 39.6.

Just incase anyone wants to relive the shitshow in all of its glory:

Awesome video.

One minute in, and I've already relived Jim Fyffe, the fact that those scoreboard bulbs were perpetually out, and, "Hey! there's Bo Nix's dad!"

Yes Mallet actually was the one. Jones and Mallet were both good answers
