I'll start with the positives. Trey Smith who is a true freshman had an unbelievable night. John Kelly is one of the better rb's in the conference and is our best player by far. Marquez Callaway was unbelievable and kept us in the ballgame. Dormandy was shaky at first but actually ended up having a solid night, especially for his first start.

Now for the negatives, Kahlil McKenzie played like shite as usual. I don't know how he was highly regarded out of high school. Our cb's were not impressive at all. Justin Martin who got pulled after getting burned repeatedly continues to be a joke.

My final assessment is that we were very lucky to win this game. We were outplayed, and out coached. I do think Ga Tech is pretty solid team this year that will give many good teams fits with that flex bone option attack. I think we will be lucky to win eight games this year but that might be good enough to win East this year.

TL/DR:

That trash can won't help Tennessee win more than 4 SEC games, and keep you from having to play in the Music City Bowl.

John Kelly reminds me of a tad smaller Derrius Guice. Fun guy to watch.

All that analysis without mentioning the role of the trash can.

Pretty spot on, it's the first game, looking forward to the rest of the season.

It's a W and that's all that matters. The last three SEC teams got GA Techs balls rubbed across their faces in defeat, we won, that's what matters.

I would like a Tennessee fan to explain the motivation of having a coach hold up a trash can?

Don't let it bother you. Beating GT is no easy feat especially in a first game. They play tough physical ball and they are good at that option. You will never get credit for beating them, but it was a good win and should go a long way to building team confidence.

Here are my thoughts. I thought UT would win the game with ease. GT's defense is bad, make no mistake. GT's offense was using a new quarterback who looked like he weighed 180, and they rammed it down your throat repeatedly.

Maybe Butch was using some kind of injury avoidance scheme by playing so far off the line, but UT has big problems on both sides. It's first game and all that, but any positives you take away from last night are an illusion until proven otherwise, because GT is not a good team.

And I'll save you a troll post by acknowledging that they beat UGA last year and yes we sucked too, especially on offense. But we didn't give up 650 yards and I'm pretty sure that GT got their season high last night against the vols.

I keep reading reference to GT self-destructing and the Vols getting lucky. I suppose you can be lucky if your opponent cannot recruit a place kicker, but the fumbles were caused or did I not see it correctly and GT's fumbles happened because the guy just dropped it out of his hands? LOL

I'm all for trashing butch jones because I think he is a total joke but that triple option would give a bunch of good teams fits. The way they won this game will absolutely aid them. Most teams have to win a game like this. It can change your entire season.

Georgia Tech is a good team. They aren't a great team. They're 2-1 against UGA over the last 3 games. They are doing something right.
