1987 Baylor @ Arkansas. Was a great game and the old SWC was in the era of good Defenses. Lots of stout defenses. Except for Houston.

Bama Florida 08 and 09. OH MY...big boy football. Blink and you die.

2003 UGA @ LSU was a violent affair.

Easy for me, number one is the 1979 Sugar Bowl between Bama and Penn St.
I was at that game also, but too young to remember much.

LSU vs Georgia in Baton Rouge in 2003.

1984 Georgia-Clemson when Kevin Butler kicked the 61 yard fg to win it for the Dogs 26-23. Hardest hitting game I ever saw. Fridge Perry and Michel Dean Perry for Clemson were men among boys and Dogs still came out on top. As physical a game as I've ever seen.

1990 TSIO, 9-6 final. Both defenses hit hard and full of hits that would be penalties today
I was young and don't remember a lot about the game, but I was there.

It’s one sided, but LSU vs Auburn in 2011. LSU was out for blood in that game and Jarvis Landry killed 2 guys on kickoff coverage

1980 Bama-State game in Jackson.
Both defenses were smash mouth physically dominating types.
Final score was 6-3. Game was not for the faint hearted.
My Dad and I were there that historical day when quite a few streaks were ended.
But it was the most physical game I have ever seen in person.
State’s defense was led by MLB Johnie Cooks who was the second overall pick in the 1982 NFL draft. He was a MAN among men.
Bama was excellent as well.

“USC won, 55-24, and won the 1974 UPI National Championship (Oklahoma was voted the AP champion). ”
I can get that this was one of the best games you have ever seen but if a team puts 55 up against another team’s defense then that is not a physical game. One team whipped the other physically. But the losing defense had no physicality at all. So one sided physical but not both teams.

I would actually go so far as to say the 2005 Florida @ Bama game.
Tons of hard hits in that game even on the offense. I still maintain that Ken Darby should have a statue in the Pantheon of Great Bama Running Backs, but he is rarely credited. As hard a runner as we have ever had.
Overall, we had some nasty headhunters on that team. One of my favorites outside the Saban era.
BOOM!

2004 and 2006 Auburn LSU. Truly can’t choose between the two.

2006 Auburn vs LSU
Every hit was pad popping and the crowd noise was insane. Every hit the crowd would go BOOOM for both sides. Best pregame eagle flight i have ever seen as well. Been going to games since Bo Jackson played.

LSU v. Ole Miss, 2003 in the Grove. Eli Manning’s last year. That game defined LSU’s first title since 1958. Those players were killing each other!
