I disagree.

Unless there is a gigantic difference between both universities.

When you are talking about two different states you are talking about other factors involved.

Ohio State/Michigan started because Michigan had the auto industry and money while Ohio was still somewhat backwater when their rivarly started.
Things changed overtime and Ohio State started keeping their players and started equaling Michigan in money.

Similar to Oklahoma/Texas but Oklahoma is still a backwater state and everyone in Oklahoma knows Texas is a superior state.

I can assure you you're 100% incorrect.

If you don't think UF won't go full blown ballistic if they beat UGA this than you know nothing about the rivalry

Back when they were playing every year, few rivalries matched the hatred of Pitt/WVU.

BYU/Utah is also up there.

Throwing Louisville-Kentucky in there for consideration.

This. Not saying they aren't disliked, but it's not their biggest rival.

F**, UGA fans are the WOAT. My enjoyment of beating them trumps every team in the SEC, AU included.

Talk like Alabama with Ole Miss' trophy case.

The state of Michigan and Ohio actually had a little mini war in the 1830’s over the border and Toledo. UM was if I’m not mistaken originally suppose to be in Toledo. It’s not an in state rivalry but I would say it’s up there.

OSU/Michigan is purely faux hatred. Spend some time around the fans and it becomes obvious pretty quickly. They're loud about it, as most people who are trying to act like they actually give a shite about something are, but it's lip service.

South Carolina and Clemson hate each other. UF/FSU? Hate. OSU/UM is not the same.

Doubt that.

Truthfully it isn't fun to be hated because you have people who would like nothing more than to see your school burn in flames.

I don't think Michigan/Ohio St act like they hate each other.
Call it for what it is.

Truthfully I don't think any fanbase wants to be hated.
It isn't that fun.

I agree it's not fun. But I'm telling you, they don't give a frick about each other. It's all about keeping up appearances.

Just because this is the case in Alabama, since about 80% of the population is related to each other, doesn’t mean this would be the case everywhere else. We don’t all do incest like y’all do

Plus if Tennessee ever put out their dumpster fire Bama's attention would turn to them instead of Auburn.

Sounds like Auburn fans are promoting their hatred for Bama.
But Bama fans are like whatever.

Apart from an occasional shot at each other I rarely see either fan base acting like it is a huge rivalry. now, LSU fans seem pretty focused on Alabama, and Alabama seems pretty focused on LSU.

Don't get me wrong, the Iron Bowl is the biggest game on the schedule every year. But I don't hate the institution itself, or all of the fans.

There's some that can frick off, and I think they all post here

My choices in schools were SMU, UCLA, Alabama, and Wake Forest. Alabama gave me a tidy scholarship offer, much like they do for others in major metro areas around the south. (Think the University is ~70% OOS now?).

Either way, enjoyed my time in Tuscaloosa, got a good education, got to enjoy a historically great football program and experience, and used the money I saved for grad school.

Will never understand why folks think UGA is some sub-ivy league school like Virginia. It's probably the same mentality they have when comparing football programs, so I do somewhat understand the parallel, despite the logic.
