quote:Bama fans do that to each other when their own team loses. When the Saban era ends and so does their fantasy that players arent just coming there for the cars and bribes, a quarter of them will be in prison and another quarter will be in the grave. Just wait til the first loss after he's gone and watch the local Bama news.
But kill each other

And I have that same feeling, but just because Scar is in the same state as Clemson. If I wasn't raised to hate you because we are in state rivals you would be irrelevant to me the same way you're irrelevant to every other school

The schools had to create a trophy in an effort to have less people get hurt after the game each year. The egg bowl is a HEATED rivalry

Okay? Same to you?
You mean if we weren’t instate rivals we wouldn’t be instate rivals?
MY GOD

I don't get people trying to pin how shitty the state is on the state university. Every state university you guys are talking about are very good to great, and are generally pleasant places to be that are open minded, free thinking and nicest parts of those states for students to be in. And every state with an SEC school is kind of backwards and shitty in many ways. That just makes the universities and their respective locals that much better, relatively speaking.
Incredibly well stated.
Tuscaloosa and Auburn are general oasis' in the overall landscape of Alabama. Same for Oxford in Mississippi (though the coast is nice). Athens, Atlanta, and Savannah are the only places I'd ever tell someone from out of state to visit. NW Arkansas/Fayetteville is wonderful. I could go on.
We should do a better job tipping our collective hats to each other in the scholastic/athletics arms race we've all been in for the last 15 years.
Go visit a majority of Big10/Big XII schools, and outside of places like Austin, Norman, Columbus, Ann Arbor, and Happy Valley, the drop-off is staggeringly large to what we've become accustomed to.

That is reserved for Oklahoma.
If you want to talk about what fanbase is completely obsessed with their rival travel to Oklahoma.
It is pretty sad.
Oklahoma is such a rival that you dildo-waving ****s were cheering them on in the 2013 Cotton bowl.
But, you're right. We're not rivals. No need to play you queers in any sport.

This was up there from 2007-2014ish, but we haven't even really competed in the past 4 years while bama has been to every championship game. Rivalry is dead, and it will take more than a win to reignite it.

Hated?
Auburn and Alabama is a big rivalry, but I fricking HATE Georgia.

This really is an underrated rivalry. It's not overlooked by any means, but there is some deep-seeded hatred here.
The Iron Bowl is fierce, but at least on the alumni level, it's a lot more respectful than people think. A lot of families are split down the middle due to their educational wants and needs (business/law/medicine v. engineering/leading vet school), and end up a house divided on Thanksgiving weekend. Alabama is a small state, and while there is absolutely disdain, Barners and Bammers coexist rather well.
Auburn and Georgia - there's hardly crossover. They really don't like each other.
One of my earlier memories of this game was in 2004 when Junior Rosegreen damn near killed a Georgia player, and the AU fans still went ballistic. There's some bad blood there.

I had a patient here in Wilmington last night who was a Clemson grad. He saw my Gamecock lanyard and asked for another nurse. Said he'd "rather die" than to be "taken care of by a Gamecock."
When I initially went in to introduce myself as his nurse and he saw the lanyard he stopped cold and basically growled "I'm a Clemson grad." My reaction was natural repulsion and I gave him a quick but polite death stare, as he did me as well, before I excused myself from his room.
Someone needs a psych eval. It's just football. If someone is trying to help me I wouldnt give a shite about anything but their competence.

I mean if we weren't in the same state we wouldn't be rivals. Our primary rival would be FSU because we compete for a conference championship with them. And we compete on a national scene with other teams.
So if you didn't have Clemson, you wouldn't have a rival because there is no relevance

If Scar wasn't in the same state as Clemson, who would be your rival?

This is quite possibly the stupidest argument I've ever been involved in. clemson was literally founded out of hatred of the University of South Carolina.
Also, please no longer be in the same state with us. That would be fantastic. Your kind has been dragging us down long enough.
