Why not I’ll give you an honorable mention….without a doubt 2011 Texas needs to be mentioned since at the time this was probably the worst loss in A&M football history but I think history has now forgiven this game because I think if we won that game the trajectory of A&M would have been very different in 2012. Sherman would have been the coach still which would have lead to Johnny never starting and not winning the Heisman.

Other honorable mentions is probably 2013 Bama and 2013 Auburn. 2013 Bama was probably the biggest game ever at Kyle Field during that time and come to find out we had the worst defense in the history of the program that season. That 2013 season would have been so different if we had just an average defense. Wasted year for Johnny

But I was at the OU-Boise State game. Boise State scored their TD and statue of liberty play right in front of where I was sitting.

Much in the same vein... In 2014 when OU was playing Oklahoma State in Norman and pretty much had the game won... When Bob Stoops decided to "re-punt" the ball after a running into the kicker penalty.

On the first punt... Tyreek Hill fair caught the punt at the Oklahoma State 19 yard line... OSU was down a TD, had no time outs and a freshman QB.

On the repunt... Tyreek Hill ran the punt back 95 yards for a touchdown. Forced OT where OSU ended up winning since they had all the momentum.

State vs LSU 2009. Chad Jones single handedly beat State that day. 90 yard punt return TD and a game saving deflection on the goal line when everyone else in the stadium bit on the play action. State was down 6 and had 1st and goal from the 2 with a minute and a half left, could not score in 4 attempts. Our 5 foot 8 QB decided to run the ball up the middle on 4th down instead of pitching it for a walk in TD on an option play. That was a brutal one.


State vs Bama 2017. State had Bana for about 3.5 quarters. I think Bama had some injuries on defense and Mullen’s plan was run the ball and control the clock and it worked amazingly for a while. I think State had like a 40-20 edge in time of possession. But then State kinda folded late. And Todd Grantham did a Todd Grantham and sent an all out blitz on 3rd and 15 that blew up in his face horribly.
