vs ULM 2012
My freshman year at Arkansas. This loss meant:
2012 season was over
No college gameday the following week for the first time since 2006 (still haven’t hosted Gameday since 2006 btw)
Turns out, we couldn’t just plug and play head coaches and keep rolling as a team after Petrino was canned.
We were gonna have to find a new head coach and do a full rebuild which was gonna take years (pre-NIL era), meaning I was probably never going to see much high level football in my time as a student.
I walked into that game in WMS as a student as a college student for a Top 10 SEC team. I walked out resigned to the fact that we weren’t gonna be good for all of college. We had our moments from 2012-2016 for sure, but never returned to where we were in 2010/2011.

This Bama loss hurt!
"T.J. Yeldon scored the legendary late-game touchdown against LSU on November 3, 2012. Trailing 17-14 in Death Valley with under a minute left, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron threw a perfectly timed 28-yard screen pass to freshman running back Yeldon. LSU brought an all-out blitz, allowing Yeldon to slip the blocks, make a defender miss, and sprint down the sideline to score with 51 seconds remaining. The score secured a stunning 21-17 victory for No. 1 Alabama."

State-Bama 1975. We led 10-7 in the fourth quarter. Had a first and goal at the one yard line. Four downs later it was still 10-7. Had we gone up 17-7 we would have won the game. But momentum shifted to Bama. We fumbled a punt, field position flipped and we ended up losing 21-10. Gut wrenching.
State-Ole Miss 1983. Immaculate Deflection.
Gut wrenching as we won the game. The FG was true and splitting the uprights.
But then the wind stopped the ball in mid flight. And then we lost the game 24-23.
State-Bama 1984. We led 20-17 late in the fourth quarter. Bama threw a bomb in which our DB deflected but he fell to the ground and the ball popped into the WR’s hands and he walked in to end zone for a TD. Final score 24-20.
All three games were in Jackson.

Les miles first home game after Katrina. That was clear example of peaking in the 2nd quarter. Fans and team were too jacked. Like falling off a cliff when that happens. 3rd down after 3rd down fricking clausen

If Arkansas won that game, they would had parties all week long and would have a hangover game against State.

The 13-12 Auburn loss to Favre and USM was in 90 which was Favre's last year. It also couldn't have a set a tone for the offense the rest of the year, because it was the 9th game of the year. You must be thinking of another game.

Punt Bama Punt, or Don Jacobs fumbling on the MSU goal line to lose 6-3 and ended a 28 game winning streak.

* 1979 LSU vs USC in Tiger Stadium. (12-17)
* 1982 LSU vs Tulane in Tiger Stadium. (28-31)
* 2012 LSU vs Alabama in Tiger Stadium.
All of these are pretty close and hard to separate on the "Gut Wrench" scale.

I was there for this one and another gut wrenching loss for ya'll in BR by Bama in 1998. I typically like to enjoy wins there but those 2 were ones where you really don't want to talk shite because you honestly can't really believe what you just saw happen and you never can fully expect someone's reaction to witnessing victory literally being pulled out of your soul.

Depends on how you look at it.
A) Texas A&M over Mizzou 72-0, but I knew it was going to be a rout and I was an Aggie at the time.
B) 5th down play against Colorado. Game didn't really matter for Mizzou. I was first fan down to the goal line. We knew it was 5th down and even told the ref. Colorado player was down 1/2 a yard short of the goal line on 5th down, but they called it a touchdown anyway.

The first Auburn loss that really bothered me and I was young but remember like a nightmare was against LSU IN 1988. Loss 7 to 6 on 4th down if my 8 year old memory is correct

Brother, my actual "boots on the ground experience" happened in 2007. Saban's first year. When he onside kicked it against UT... the entire stadium KNEW things were changing. Fat Phil retired end of that season.

Surprised I haven’t seen any Aggie fans chime in here since we have been through way too many gut wrenching losses through out our history but I’ll chime in!
I would say the Miami CFP game at Kyle considering it was probably the biggest A&M football game in my lifetime but then Miami made it all the way to the Natty so it didn’t feel as bad as it did but the way we lost was so gut wrenching.
The next one would probably be 2024 Texas. After all the build up for years of bringing that game back and then add it with an SEC title/CFP berth on the line and they just straight up kicked our arse at home with an injured Quinn Ewers…painful
