That place used to be a diesel repair shop. Been there many times in the past when they were a customer. I've had nightmares about being on foot at night in that part of town. Can't believe an all conference player would go there.

Latest from the all knowing AI Chat Bots...
Investigation & Arrests
Formal Arrests:
The three 19-year-olds taken into custody at the scene—Landice Magee, Jvon Sibley, and Alvin Peyton—have been officially booked.Current Status: They are currently being held at the Jones County Juvenile Detention Center / Adult facility on hold for another agency while Laurel investigators finalize local shooting charges.
Bystander Status:
Family and close sources report that Hardy was an innocent bystander. He was leaving the venue when a physical altercation erupted in the crowd, leading to multiple cars and individuals being struck by gunfire.
Medical PrognosisExpected Recovery:
Doctors indicate the bullet missed all vital organs and major arteries in his leg.Timeline Update: While he is mobile, alert, and expected to make a full recovery, medical staff noted it will take about one month of healing before they can accurately assess whether he will be physically cleared to play football during the 2026 season.
Note that part about being a bystander makes me hopeful that he was... but the source is "Family and close sources", so not sure what that means.

Does it matter? Schools, concerts, churches, clubs, … have been shooting locations.

Kamakazie Biker Club in Laurel. They have a few posters that say “Security is strictly enforced.”

Do you really want to compare who has more shootings between Missouri and Mississippi?

Laurel is like 15 miles closer to Oxford than it is to Baton Rouge. It's in south MS, not far from Hattiesburg.

From the article: "The LPD found multiple gun casings, and Davis said it was a miracle more people weren’t hit."
I picture a bunch of Star Wars storm troopers repeatedly shooting and missing their targets.
If these youts want to carry guns, at least take target practice once in a while. Then again, you would get charged with murder instead of first degree assault.

I'm not going to argue St. Louis does not have a problem, it most certainly does and it needs to get fixed. But, one thing to consider when looking at per capita rates is St. Louis (the city) is independent of St. Louis County, and has a compartively small population compared to other big cities (St Louis city has around 280,000 population, probably less than that in reality). By itself it is almost always in the top 2 or 3 year in and year out.
However, if you combine St. Louis City and St. Louis County the total population is a bit over 1.2 million. The combined per capita homicide rate of St. Louis city and county is around 16 per 100,000 people. Similar to Dallas or Phoenix. Of course, that number is still way too high.
