Can I get some cliffs on what caused the Mizzou penalties? Wasn’t a tutor blowing a football player and then admitted to doing his homework for him?

Regardless, the message is clear: don’t cooperate with the NCAA, ever. They will not do you any favors in return.

beating Arkansas is nothing to brag about. Just because We suck worse doesn’t mean you don’t still suck

Mizzou AD hired a minority criminal to tutor athletes. The criminal had a long rap sheet of petty theft and such. She was doing homework for players unbeknownst to the AD and attempted to extort $ from the AD. When the AD wouldn't pay she went public.

I think backroom negotiations would go on long before that and it would never come to the surface, but it would be an interesting scenario for sure. Who knows, it might even be the straw that broke the NCAA's back. I think the Power 5 schools are going to eventually break off, and something like this is going to be a catalyst. My guess is that that catalyst would involve one of the fair haired boys like Bama, USC, Ohio State, Texas, North Carolina,Florida.

This was kind of what I was talking about. The relationship is not exactly a great one at this point.

This is purely hypothetical of course, but some frickery on this level by the NCAA might be enough for a conference to finally say frick it

I bet Georgia could rally to play a game in Atlanta in 3 days. No planes or hotel needed. They would also know in advance that there was uncertainty about Missouri and could prepare for that possibility.

Could they? I guess, sure. Teams that don’t play in the SEC title game aren’t even practicing that week. They don’t start Bowl prep until afterwards.

I can guarantee you this. Smart would be livid and so would Saban. Both would be vocal.

It’d be far more Mizzou for them to wait, Mizzou to win the East, shock the world and win the SEC ... THEN before the playoffs it be announced that the decision was upheld and the championship wiped clean and Georgia and Bama both make the playoffs in our place.

Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida*, and Kentucky could all manage to fill the stands in ATL on three day's notice. Really, MO and Vandy are the only two that would struggle to do that and Mizzou's is more based on distance and logistics problems that aren't that big of a deal to the rest of us.

*Florida might have the hardest time given the distance but they'd still do it.

If we suck than you guys aren't even on the scale... since 2008 we are 5-1 v.s. you. You were a consistent win for some of the worst MU teams to take the field in the 2000's... The defense of "We suck worse" is a pretty pathetic (yet vastly understated) one, you should try harder!

Don't flatter yourself, no one would brag about beating you... We just like to hang it over your head whenever you start acting up...bad!

It’s not really the fans that would be the problem, which you are underestimating imo.

It’s the prep time for the teams

those consistent wins for some of the worst mizzou teams of the 2000s were against the 3 worst teams in the entirety of Arkansas football history. Congrats but don’t get used to it. You just lucked up in the timing that you joined the sec when we are worse than we have ever been in our entire history. And the only reason you won the game in 08 was because no one on that team gave a frick. That mizzou team would’ve lost to LSU by 4 touchdowns let alone take them to multiple overtime’s let alone win. I understand this is the rant and everyone’s a troll but how about a slight dose of reality

I am in the camp that if this happens -- the NCAA will most certainly speed up their timeline decision in regards to the appeal. If it looks like Missouri is going to win the East, you can bet your arse that they will be making their announcement 3-4 weeks before the game is played.

Most clueless Arkansas poster. Thanks for the laugh. You sound a lot like all the old Tennessee posters.
But.. but.. but.. we were kind of good a few decades ago so that means something now right? We "might" become relevant again... in another decade or so. This person is 50+ Arkansas and the shithole you all come from.

Hey bro? It's cool. We get it. You guys used to be good. Maybe that new fancy stadium you're working on will propel you back into relevancy .... probably not though.

To just get this out of the way. Mizzou sucks, never win the East again, don’t belong in the SEC, Yankee, safe space and poop swastika.

In this scenario, the second place team would be in game prep in the days before the decision came down, just in case.

Even if it wasn’t official practice, there would be film, gameplanning, “captain’s practices,” etc.

I understand but in my scenario the decision wouldn’t come until a few days before the game. Not only would they have to unwind they’d have to tell the second place team, hey you got Alabama in 2-3 days...good luck. Or perhaps even punch the game back to give the teams time to prepare
It would setup a very uncomfortable situation for the league

My guess would be the decision date would be moved out past the SECCG, or maybe moved up 2 weeks.

They are considered ban until the appeal, so in this scenario it wouldn’t be an issue, the issue would be if it were to be overturned
