To just get this out of the way. Mizzou sucks, never win the East again, don’t belong in the SEC, Yankee, safe space and poop swastika.

Now, entertain this hypothetical. When the NCAA sanctions were announced I looked up the timeline for appeal regarding the Ole Miss situation. Using that time it would put the decision for Mizzou’s appeal 3 days before the SEC title game. Say Mizzou does win the East (yes, I Georgia is the clear favorite but allow this for a moment)

What would the SEC do if the NCAA brought down the decision to uphold the bowl ban 3 days before the title game. Tickets already sold, promotion already in full swing, field painted, the whole shebang. There is an incredible amount of planning and logistics that go into putting this game together.

Would the SEC dare defy the NCAA? Might that decision then be a catalyst for the NCAA officially losing its reign as the governing body for the P5 schools? Remember, universal public sentiment was that the penalties were way over the top and unfair anyway.

I think it would be a very interesting crossroads in the already tenuous relationship. Thoughts?

I thought you were not eligible as of now? I would think those tickets would go to the 2nd place team. Not sure.

Your bow ban covers a conference title game? Are you on full on probation and can’t do anything?

I think it's a postseason ban in general

Gotcha. I keep seeing it referred to as a bowl ban so I thought it was specific to those games. The more you know.

I understand but in my scenario the decision wouldn’t come until a few days before the game. Not only would they have to unwind they’d have to tell the second place team, hey you got Alabama in 2-3 days...good luck. Or perhaps even punch the game back to give the teams time to prepare

It would setup a very uncomfortable situation for the league

We are eligible as long as it’s under appeal. Our baseball team would have been eligible for the CWS had they not shite down their legs down the stretch

OM's timeline is rooted in racism and has no business being associated with Missouri.

The SEC won't do shite. You win, you play. Why would they care. Let's hear it business majors.

I bet Georgia could rally to play a game in Atlanta in 3 days. No planes or hotel needed. They would also know in advance that there was uncertainty about Missouri and could prepare for that possibility.

That scenario is possible BUT if it looked like Mizzou was winning the East, the NCAA would probably expedite their decision BUT THEN AGAIN it's the NCAA and no one knows what those retards are gonna do.

I think backroom negotiations would go on long before that and it would never come to the surface, but it would be an interesting scenario for sure. Who knows, it might even be the straw that broke the NCAA's back. I think the Power 5 schools are going to eventually break off, and something like this is going to be a catalyst. My guess is that that catalyst would involve one of the fair haired boys like Bama, USC, Ohio State, Texas, North Carolina,Florida.

I believe it has happened in the past and the second place team went. I could be mistaken.

Regardless, the SEC will support Missouri in their appeals and lobby the NCAA to let them into the post season... but I don't think this is the battle to the death with the NCAA the SEC picks.

We've had potential NCAA title teams banned from the post season in the past. Hell, we've had actual NCAA title teams forced to vacate their titles. It happened to Arkansas a couple of times and I believe that LSU had to hand back a track title just a few years ago. Both were for amazingly small time stuff as I recall.

If we weren't willing to go to the wall when Alabama got put on probation in football or when actual NCAA titles were stripped from SEC teams we won't be willing to go to the wall over this.

Mizzou is eligible during the appeals process. Once the appeal is finalized, if there is still a bowl ban, that is when it goes into effect.

Bless you. It takes a while for caffeine to kick in. I thought it had happened before but wasn't sure.

If I were a fan of another team I would be rooting so hard for this to happen just to see the fallout alone.

Could set a major precedent for conferences giving the NCAA the finger
