This was not Miles best coaching job - Saban had a few lapses, Miles had plenty. I can't believe we had no plays to neutralize the pressure.

Saban had his team ready to play. I'm still not sure Miles did, but his teams have no quit in them...

Being that our offense was incapable of moving the ball very far at all, Saban should have been punting those field goals and pinning us down deep in our end of the field. Miles plays field position, Saban doesn't.
If the Bama defense holds us to a 3 & out they get the ball with great field position, (maybe) but instead he was giving us the ball close to mid field the whole game.

Very insightful post. Bama should have punted instead.

Because LSU's former employee ALWAYS plays not to lose instead of trying to win. Ultra conservative. He earns every bit of that $4M salary, huh?

i came here to post the exact same thing. for as good a recruiter and teacher of football saban is, and he really is, miles is 10x the better game day coach.

i have to give les miles his credit, he's an excellent game day coach. a good coach overall. he's earned my respect.

saban out thinks himself.

Miles owns Saban.

A rematch in NOLA would be more of the same, except more of a home field advantage and more time for Miles to out coach Saban.

Recruits- if you want to win championships AND have fun winning AND go to to the NFL, LSU is the place

When you have the talent and depth that LSU and Bama do there's no excuse for someone who can't plant on his ankle to be fielding punts.
Agree. That was crazy.

Damn, if true, that really was stupid.

Moron. I bet you are a Finebaum fan too.

If Williams catches the ball at the one . . . this is mute. If one of the field goals go through . . . this is mute.

Grow up and learn something about football.

The word you are looking for is MOOT. Careful calling others a moron when you are a moron yourself.

Bama should have never tried that 3rd long fg, they should have stuck to feeding Richardson up the middle, and those incredibly dumb cutesy plays by the bama o were insane. Saban didn't trust his punting game or his defense in the end.

He is a good coach obviously but chokes in big games far too often. He's great when the coach on the other side is a choker too however (stoops brown etc).

There's just too much to work with here. Where to start?

He wasn't outcoached. We missed multiple kicks, the game should have never went past regulation.

There's an old philosophy in football....that if you need a big pass play, you want the ball in the hands of your best PASSER. Blame Maze if you want but the decision to run the trick play and put a hobbling punt returner on the field are one Little Nicky.

Yeah and if JJ doesn't underthrow Sheppard, if TMZ doesn't closeline dre, if the snap comes clean to JL...

Always lots of Ifs in a game like this on both sides.

Woulda, should, coulda....

If Ware bounces outside at the end of the first half, we get 7 instead of 3.

Tell me who tackled Sheperd when he got behind Bamas coverage and caught that deep pass? Nobody. He just fell down.

Don't go down the path of what "coulda" or "shoulda" happened.

I made a point about how no one was outcoached. Don't be so defensive.

this this this. that was some houston nutt type shite. WTF are you doing letting your WR pass the ball when you are on the freaking 20 yard line in a 6 6 game with like 4 mintues left.

you were basically 5 yards away from a national championship game. you get 5-6 more yards, and the FG is a chip shot, and he blew his wad

I have figured les miles out. He is the most conservative coach I have ever seen, and it's why he gives saban fits, because he basically says "okay, you are going to do somethings stupid, and i'm not, besides eat grass". miles figures, if we play long enough, you are going to do something dumb and we are going to capitalize. saban played right into his hands with that.
