Cancer has spread to lungs and there is nothing more that can be done. He has 1-2 months to live. He will be in his habitat daily for fans to say goodbye and will be so for as long as he can be. He will not be allowed to suffer and will be put down when he starts to deteriorate. This is from the press conference.

LSU will begin the process of finding a new tiger now

this is number 6 right? do they typically bring in a cub or a full grown tiger when they retire the old one?

by the way, this sucks for LSU. truly a sad day.

LSU has had most of them from when they were cubs. This Mike was a rescue. He was still very young but he was just about full grown. We will get a lot of push back this time though from the SJW/PETA douche bags.

You should.
People are far from an endangered species.

This is about Roscoe, who has brought more people joy than most people ever will. He is a rare beauty, a pure soul, and a magnificent example of an entire species not long for this world.

The main reason why a species becomes endangered? The ignorance and arrogance of mankind claiming himself and his greed more important.

I don't know your wife and I feel for her and your family...but taking away from this animal's plight to communicate your own is just poor form.

Godspeed, Roscoe. I hope your suffering is deferred as much as possible.

Yeah, Roscoe is Mike VI, the next tiger will be Mike VII.

Mike VI has had the most "personality" of all the previous Mikes.

Hormone positive

Estrogen? progesterone? Either way that is great news. My mom was triple negative which ended in shooting in the dark at any possible treatment.

We are making a lot of advances, but that means little to those who are facing one of the many types of cancers that we have no treatment for yet.

Stay positive, that is one of the biggest treatments not only for her, but for you and your family as well. My mom lived for years over her prognosis and I believe her mindset helped keep her with us for that much longer. In your case it will help her deal with the treatments and emotional stress while she beats the disease. Good luck to you and her.

As soon as Mike's initial diagnosis was made, PETA was beating their war drums, demanding that LSU not replace him. The vet school is treating him & he is getting the best care available to make his final days comfortable & as pain free as possible. Were he to be living in the wild, as PETA demands, Mike would die a miserable, painful death alone. Finding a new Mike won't be as easy as it sounds because of PETA & other organizations fighting keeping wild animals in captivity.

My wife is currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer. Worldwide, 7.6 MILLION people die of cancer each year. Please don't think me heartless if I can't work up too much emotional concern for your cat.

I've got a form of Leukemia. I understand your frustration but it's misplaced. Being sad for a beautiful animal no way takes away from your wife.

True. I loved Mike V too and the manner in which he roared on que. Both of those tigers will have amazing legacies at LSU.

Cancer sucks. I'm sure LSU will do everything in its power to make Mike VI comfortable. Can't believe he only has 1 or 2 months left.

The current mike was born in captivity. LSU will not take a Tiger from the wild.

It actually never left his form of cancer was terminal, the radiation was to extend his life a bit longer.

Hugh, I'm sorry about your wife. But expressing sadness for Mike the Tiger doesn't simultaneously mean not caring about people with cancer.

BTW, my 3 yr old great niece has brain cancer (tumor)as is progressing well. But pediatric cancer doesn't get 5% of the funding or attention of breast cancer.

Hopefully your Mrs will be fine.

Of course it matters too. But there is something wrong when the death of a chimp or a lion or a tiger can rise our emotions to a boil, but the yearly deaths of 7.6 million people becomes business as usual.

It's not business as usual for those involved, bro. Anytime someone posts about their loved ones on the OT having cancer it's the same response. Thoughts and prayers because that's literally all we can do. Be sad and hope for a turn around. It gets more attention because it's a celebrity, as mentioned. I felt the same way about Angelina Jolie's preventative surgery but the truth is that less people knows about the ones going on in our lives and you can't fault them for it.

Prayers for your wife.

I'm so sorry. Prayers. And you're exactly right about how much money and attention spent on breast cancer.
