This isn't looking good for Tennessee and Tennessee fans for their actions.

Pretty sure this has been well known for years now

So, the same thing he did to Majors.

Yes, and this story just came out to look back at the situation that had happened back then and now is the talk of this HC that MSU hired Leach a year ago. The Tennessee situation is included in the article.

Why are you posting like I am new here? I know all this a long time ago. This was brought up since Leach got the job at MSU. Last year never got to do media days like this year was first year back after last year was cancelled.

Honestly Currie is the one who fricked the situation up. He went completely off the grid and no one at the university had any idea where he was. If he had just let the Chancellor know that he was going to California to meet with Leach, Currie would most likely still be the AD and Leach would be in Knoxville. And that doesn’t even begin to address his decision to offer the job to Dave Doeren before even meeting with Leach.

By the time Leach was even a fart in the wind relative to the Tennessee job (he plausibly would've been the perfect hire, but that's not the point here,) Tennessee football had long turned into the biggest failure in the college sports world in the past 50 years. From a NC in the late 90's to an extended period of self-destruction, which was somehow exacerbated by a retired coach, boosters and media, to the point that a coaching search turned into a public display of graphic whack-a-mole.
Pathetic that such a dysfunctional organization is allowed to remain in the SEC... but then again, who doesn't love watching a 15 year long self imposed train wreck?
And I'm still loving it. frick Tennessee, frick fat backstabbing Phil, and frick and their puke-arse inside a pumpkin orange hillbilly
bucktoothed drinking corn out of a jar selves.

Whole thing was bizarre. I gotta give the vols credit they are not boring.

Difference is...Currie had it coming (and Fulmer had no allegiance to him). Majors (all honor to his name) was his freaking mentor.

Currie was fired for gross incompetence. The coach that pushed this issue into the limelight was Schiano (because of the PSU Sandusky scandal questions)
And Leach isn’t an SEC caliber coach. Great mindset and personality but will never win anything in the SEC.

Phil never met a back he wouldn’t stab.

Looking back, the most astounding thing about
their Fat Phil debacle, was they paid him millions
to go away---yet he managed to worm his
way back, put another blow torch to the Orange wasteland he helped create---and now
after retiring(firing)him again, they have to send him a monthly check through 2023.
In a bizarre way, Phil's my hero, because rather
than Alabama, he's damn near put Tennessee out of business.

Yeah but he’s better than Schiano/Pruitt/Heupel.

Yes, and you can include their dysfunctional fans among the guilty who all but lynched a man on unfounded rumours that the FBI all but put to rest on their Schiano dossier. I guess Schiano is getting the last laugh on that dumpster fire.

Schiano never had the good fortune to coach that train wreck, and as it worked out they couldn't even hire a middling coach after that fiasco and had to hire a dud like Pruitt.
