Despite what either can pay, I think money wise, Aggie will just want Jimbo more than LSU. They'll outbid LSU on anything LSU offers simply because they want him more. The only way we see Jimbo in Baton Rouge is if he just wants to be with Woodward/at LSU that much, which I find HIGHLY unlikely.

I agree with this. But Jimbo isn’t taking a pay cut no matter how much he wanted Lsu. At a minimum his per year would go up and have equal guaranteed money.

Can you see Lsu offering 12 years 120 M? I sure can’t.

So is LSU out of money?

I don't think LSU is going to offer Fisher a fully guaranteed 9 figure deal to leave A&M, and that's what it would take. Having the money to pay him that much on a yearly basis isn't the only factor. It's also locking yourself into a deal for 10 years and owing him every cent if the hire doesn't work out. That's a lot of money when there's still risk involved. Like I said, the only coach I'd give a deal like that to would be Nick Saban.

I thought too many LSU fans are butthurt about 2015/2016 to go back to the Jimbo well.

The only facts are that 1) the AD relationship, and 2) Jimbo has a zero dollar buyout…hard to understand that?

Jimbo has very heavily involved in selecting the AD. Ross is his boy.

Saban doesn’t have a buyout either. The greats don’t need them. Ever checked out how much it costs a team to leave the SEC? $0.

No doubt.

I don't think Jimbo to LSU really makes sense for anyone involved, maybe Jimbo leverages it into another pay raise though.

At least Texas A&M is going to give a raise to Jimbo due to rumors of him going to LSU. Think Auburn gave their previous coach a raise due to rumors of Arkansas.

“Targeting” Jimbo is not news. That’s just saying the obvious, that he is desired.

Jimbo actually entertaining offers would be news.

I believe the LSU AD wants him, because he hired him once. Beyond that, I just can't find a single reason anyone else at LSU would want him. He's not a horrible coach, but I don't think he's anywhere near the level that commands the amount of money he currently makes.

If LSU could get him for 4 years at $5.5/yr, sure, kick the tires. Otherwise, seems like an easy hard pass.

Already did. Woodward made his move on Jimbo over the summer. A&M gave Jimbo a raise and extension and the matter was put to bed. If Jimbo to LSU was going to happen it would have happened before the season kicked off.

Any rumors now are wishful thinking or smokescreens.

Being buddies with Woodward isn’t enough to overcome the disadvantages of taking the LSU job

It won’t affect that. Only winner here is Fisher.

He’ll make an extra 2 million next year at A&M and contract will go to 15 years.

For not even winning his own division give the man and his agent credit. Making way more than he deserves.

It is beginning to look like to me that if this storyline is accurate then SW is willing to take the gamble that Jimbo will be elite successful gor a long time and would calm the rollercoaster ride that is LSU Football. Therefore I can see him going for the long term mega contract now. Almost everyone else is a 3-5 yr person who might jump to nfl or another elite job if they dont crash and burn

I see a lot of Aggies say this but multiple times I've asked for a credible source for the information and never got one.

Lsu has fired the last two coaches that won them Nattys. He goes three years without one at LSU and they are looking for cause.

Jimbo would become god-king at A&M for one.

The money and guarantee would need to be beyond LSU’s means to make him move.

Damn, LSU already took their AD, now they might take their coach. This may be the biggest off field story in college football.

This was the impetus for authorizing his raise and extension 8/31. Plenty of sources available announcing the deal. You can try John Sharp and see if he’ll take your call. That’s the most credible source you’ll get.

Am I just supposed to climb on board this move and learn to accept it?

He got a 25% raise and an extention, 3 years into a 10 year contract.

That doesn't happen out of the blue. Someone came sniffing around, and A&M stepped up to ensure Jimbo stays put.

A few weeks later, Orgeron got fired, and LSU formally began a coaching search.

You do the math.

Higher expectations from the LSU fanbase for sure.

Some would even say unrealistic. Most would say that actually.
