It was technically 1 for Urban since Utah was still a mid major at the time.

Remember when BK ended Bama’s dream of another SEC championship and CFP appearance when Bama was against was a consensus team to be in the CFP for 2022?
I do.

Not really.

It was a well deserved win for LSU, but the writing was already on the wall. The team had to turn a corner regardless of their record, and they still haven't.

I don't feel like LSU won because they rose to a higher level, I think Alabama has dropped down quite a bit this year. I mean you won by 1 point in OT in a home game. Slow your roll.

Either team would have gotten their asses kicked in the SECCG anyway, and also in the playoffs. So I don't see all that much difference. You're either a championship quality team or you aren't, and neither Alabama nor LSU are.

That 2016 roster was bad my man. And there was no transfer portal to fix it then. Heck we lost to GT and Vandy in 16. It was also Kirby’s first HC gig, this is Kelly’s 5th HC job.

Or having zero significant wins over 12 years at Notre Dame?

Norte Dame hasn’t had a national championship since 1988. Let’s not act like it’s exactly easy to win there. Before that it was 1977.

I got respect for LSU, but this LSU can win with the NC with any coach bit is just dumb. The vast majority of their coaches historically have not won the NC…like any other program.

Joe Burrow made LSU in 2019, it had nothing to do with O..LSU’s aura wasn’t enough to overcome his ineptitude after Burrow left or he’d still be there

Les Miles won the NC with 2 losses.

And Saban won the NC at LSU

The goal post never moved. Beating a 2-loss Bama team at home isn’t any more significant than some of his wins at ND.

The question was always if he could win those Tier 1 games

Alabama under Saban is 1 hundred and Fricking 90 wins and 27 Losses under Saban. They beat a 1 loss Bama team when they played them. So anytime you beat a Saban coached Alabama team, you have a tier 1 win. Period, end of discussion.

The Les Miles NC was a fluke.

Fluke or no Fluke, the 2007 BCS National Championship Trophy is in LSU's trophy case.

Teams win the Superbowl with more than 2 losses, ok, so what?

That is not exactly what LSU fans are saying, it is that if Les Miles and Ed O can win one at LSU, what can a coach like Kelly do at LSU. That is what is being stated.

. It doesn’t help much if it hadn’t been developed, and you’re starting a true freshman QB. I think GA has one player drafted off that team, that some how went 8-5.

There are 32 total NFL teams, 130 D1 college football teams. CFB plays a 12 game regular season, the NFL plays now a 17 game regular season. The NFL is designed to produce 32 8-8 teams, CFB isn’t. CFB is not the NFL. Using 2007 as a barometer to greatness when LSU lost to Kentucky and Arkansas in 2007 and somehow won the NC when in 2004 Auburn goes undefeated in the SEC, wins the SECC and doesn’t even get to play for the NC at least indicates that it should be viewed in context.

If that is what they are saying then it would be reasonable JKC, but that’s not the tenor of those boasts. It’s more along the lines of “a trained monkey can win at LSU”. When in fact many more coaches at LSU than not, haven’t won the NC. Any reasonable fan can see that LSU is great soil for a championship.

I consider Orgeron the same as Chizik….present when the Supernova came through town.

Yeah me neither

Remember when tiny nicky won a significant postseason game before he was the HC at LSU?

Yeah me neither

We kicked his as at Michigan State and made him leave.

We’re about to make him leave again

For good

We are in a playoff system now, where does it say that a 2 loss Conference Champ from lets say clearly 1 of the 2 best Power 5 can't be in the playoff. When it expands to 12 teams, there are going to be lots of 2 teams in the expanded playoff.

LSU was just ahead of the curve in 2007.

The Rantard LSU fans say that. No rationale fan is saying that, LSU has its share of bozos who didn't win crap and got fired.

There were multiple reasons why that LSU team was so good, and they end with Joe Burrow, but they don't start with him.
