That was Kirby's first year ever as a coach. BK has been coaching for years at a blue blood with absolutely nothing to show for it

He has two national championships in Division II, so there is that.

Print the cups!!!

In all seriousness, in Brian Kelly’s 19 year FBS career, what’s his biggest win?

• Win over 3-loss Oklahoma in 2012?
• COVID win over Clemson in 2020?
• Win over 2-loss Bama in 2022?

How do you coach for 19 years and not have a better bowl win than the Citrus Bowl?

Are we still reverting back to the preseason talk?

Ah the goal post has moved now. It was big game, now it’s postseason game?

The goal post never moved. Beating a 2-loss Bama team at home isn’t any more significant than some of his wins at ND.

The question was always if he could win those Tier 1 games

What preseason talk? The talk that said BK is a solid coach but has never been able to win anything that matters?

He’s certainly outperformed preseason expectations but he hasn’t overcome that critique yet.

Maybe that changes this year, but until he wins a CFP game the criticism of his career will always be valid.

Remember when BK ended Bama’s dream of another SEC championship and CFP appearance when Bama was against was a consensus team to be in the CFP for 2022?
I do.

BK has won 2 national titles actually. Just shows how little you know about CFB in general

You think any coach who hasn’t won a playoff game should be criticized? How many active coaches have won even one?

Bama was a one loss team when LSU played them.

Reading comprehension Meltey…

The criticism against BK is that despite 19 years as an FBS coach he has zero NY6 bowl wins with his best bowl win being the Citrus Bowl, which funnily enough was against LSU.

I have no problem saying BK is a good coach. I’ll even say he’s a great coach. But will he bring a national championship to LSU?

Based on what we’ve seen so far, there’s not much reason to think he will. If he reaches that next level and wins a CFP game, I’ll retract my criticism, but BK going 11-3 or 10-4 this season simply does nothing to disprove the aforementioned critique.

There have been a couple of games against UGA that LSU was a big dog yet the game ended with LSU dragging nuts on the players, coaches and fans.

Your critique is that he has not won a title in the past, so he likely won’t win in the future. Complete nonsense. The only coach in the country who has won a title after winning a title at a prior school is Nick Saban.
