They are currently giving up 7.1 YPP, which is already abysmal and would be good for worst in the country in 21 of the last 30 seasons. They are giving up 62% yards per play above average (the worst ever in CFB), 48% passing yards above average (which would be the second worst ever in CFB) and 23% rushing yards above average. They are giving up 10.4 yards per pass, which is the worst in SEC history. But it’s important to remember this current average has been achieved without playing a single offense that could be described as “good” by any reasonable metric.

LSU is about to embark on a 4 game stretch against 4 of the top 15 offenses in CFB by advanced metrics (and 3 of the top 8). If their current trends with respect to yards above average hold, they will finish 2020 giving up...wait for...9.2 yards per play. NINE POINT TWO. This would be the worst in the history of CFB by nearly a half yard per play. Moreover, they are on pace to give up a STAGGERING 12.8 yards per pass, which would be the worst ever by 1.5 yards. That’s not per completion, that’s PER PASSING ATTEMPT. Nearly 13 yards EVERY time an opponent gets a pass off without being sacked.

LSU is on pace to not only be the worst defense in the history of major college football, it’s not even close. The gap between them and the second worst (2018 UCONN) will potentially be massive.

After A&M it will only be worse. Then they have Ole Miss and Bama. They are ducked and they know it.

Florida is probably the most comparable program coaching and talent wise to LSU coming into this season just from a national perception standpoint. Both Orgeron and Mullen are Mississippi (state) coaches and LSU and Florida are coastal talent rich states.

LSU has no excuse to be this god awful.

From the best offense in history to the worst defense in history. Only Orgeron can manage to produce this inconsistency and chaos.

You better hope your team wins in that case.

They don’t sound very good. Not sure how they are going to repeat doing this.

Not as massive as the gap between LSU's team and TAM the last 8 years.

I know I'm worried some about our match up that they magically fix their issues...but man they seem bad. I cant see LSU keeping us under 50 if we try
