I’m not sure what you are arguing anymore...
Yeah, you sound confused. Here’s a breakdown:
You said LSU is lucky because it only faces a couple of decent defensive lines because they gave up 7 sacks against state.
I said I’d rather know about the problem now and fix it than if we were in a game that actually mattered this year (we won’t be). I have Georgia 2019 as an example.
You countered by saying Georgia’s defense last year was incredible and faced some good offenses.
I said they would’ve played better in the SECCG had they actually played an elite offense before that...
You bragged about shutting out SC’s 3rd string QB

It wasn't just one thing.
1. Stingley went out unexpectedly
2. Pelini did not alter game plan (I'm not buying this whole "he couldn't run zone because it's too complicated". Every team knows how to run prevent defense. He could have run that all game and probably done better.)
3. Inexperience in the secondary
4. Costello was on fire
Honestly I think it was silly to play man across the board even if Stingley was back, but I'm not a coach so who knows...
I would have thought that there would have at least been some half time adjustments considering how sputtery the offense was.

Nice job subtly encouraging the excuses to continue.

Playing man-to-man against Leach tells me either Pelini cannot coach a zone or he just doesn't give a damn what team he's playing. Stingley couldn't have covered 5 guys by himself.

Or was your defense just too depleted from the draft and players opting out to make a difference regardless?
I will put it this way, as bad as it was defensively, the game was still winable halfway through the 4th. A better scheme that would allow less than 360 YAC would have made the LSU hill less steep...

Honestly kj Costello looked like Joe burrow all game. We pressured him almost 50% of the time with like a ton of sacks as well. It just didn't matter, he was dropping dimes all over the field, regardless of how bad our walk on corners played, ever ball was a perfect throw. So maybe if we had stingley and a game under our belt to get the jitters out we would have won. And maybe if we went into zone more. It all comes down to kj Costello being on fire all game regardless of pressure in his face, first game jitters with an almost entirely freshman or first time starting team, drive killing drops, and poor coaching/adjustments.
If we played like we did against Vanderbilt it would have been a blowout, but that wasn't the case. Hell, vs Vanderbilt between cornerbacks derek stingley and elias ricks we allowed only 1 reception for 4 yards and had an interception while in man coverage. Our team is unbelievably talented, but they are also young as hell and baby shite green atm.
But the mental errors between game 1 and game 2 are night and day difference. Hopefully we continue to see the improvement between game 1 and 2 before florida. If we are able to beat florida we have a real shot at the playoffs, this team is only gonna get better, hopefully we can peak before Bama and make another playoff run. Remember Bama won a natty after losing to Texas atm, and another one after losing to ole miss.
You don't have to be 2019 LSU perfect to win a natty or go to the playoffs. And either one of those would be more than any LSU fan could hope for after this shitshow of an off-season.

This.
Costello played like a guy with two years of major college football game action under his belt and had a great game against a depleted/green secondary.
Brennan and our O played like it was basically their first game (which it pretty much was).
Throw in a couple of breaks like Farrell's batted interception getting taken away by the OT and Mc Math's 40+ yard TD reception turning into an INT and things just went States way on that particular Saturday.
Things look to be reverting back towards the norm??

Wrong place, wrong time, stingley out, all new corners and nickel shifted positions to cover for Sting.

Not at all what I'm trying to do. Just curious considering State's use of a system not really visible in the SEC.

Arkansas proved it

It’s painfully obvious that Pelini and O were being stubborn and refused to adjust from press man to anything else. It scares the shite out of me because it was something Les would’ve done. Had they switched we might have made it closer but they were on point that day so it probably wouldn’t have been enough. Who knows at this point. It was a good wake up call.
