I understand the rules and the game had to get delayed according to the rules, but what was the weather really like in Baton Rouge? Could that game have been played?

Nope. Too much lightning in the area. We just wish that the admins would've kept their word and didn't call the game early like they did.

Like every thunderstorm you have ever seen. The kind that every team in America has played through 100 times before RULES swallowed America.
I'm not denying there was lightning. I'm denying IGAF.

The servers for tRant are thankful for the delay, they will have another week to prepare for the first meltdown.

IMO No, the weather was too dangerous to allow those kids out on the field. Lightening was wayyyy to close. And it didn't stop until after 1030pm. And the decision was made to not put the team thru that after having them up all day long.

It better had been an afternoon kickoff because there are thunderstorms rolling in right now.

Well lightning didn't strike the band or fans that sat out there during the storm so I would say yes.

The AD did not have the chest or want.

Not to mention the 100,000 that at some point in the evening had to walk a mile back to their car. They all lived.

Yeah. It was clear after 11 with enough time for a warm up before the 12 am deadline.
I don't know when they would have played today but big storms are rolling through BR right now.

25 years ago a concussion was called getting your bell rung and you stayed in the game.

Perfect answer.

There was a lot of bad weather in the area. If the game doesn't resume by midnight we had to cancel anyway. Alleva wanted to wait and try and resume the game before midnight, Birmingham said no.

The kids on the field. I think the 100K fans in the stands and particularly the ones in the upper sections were in way more harms way than the kids on the field.
There were times there was lightning quite obvious but there were longer times that there was no lightning seen or heard but was being detected in the 8 mile radius.
Rain sucked but it did not last that long...

Honest answer, I'm pissed that the game was called, but I don't really blame any one in particular. I was there, when the players first left the field it wasn't raining, nor could we see lightning (I was near the bottom, not up top). After hanging out with a friend in another section, outside in the dry bleachers, about 40 minutes after the stoppage, they made an announcement that the teams would be out for a 10 minute warmup soon and the game would resume. About 5 minutes later an announcement was made to seek shelter a bad storm was imminent. The band left their seats and the jumbotrons turned off the A&M and/or Kentucky games. I went underneath the stands and it rained for about 45 minutes. I have read here that there was much lightning, but I was underneath and can't confirm.
After that 45 minutes of a good storm, the field was still in great shape, and the bleacher seats were starting to dry within a short period of time, so it wasn't a monsoon or anything similar. I went back into the stadium, the jumbotrons were turned back to other games, the band even came back to their seats. The lsu coaches made an appearance, looked to be setting up for a 20 minute warmup, the refs came out of the locker room and started to loosen up... Then officials with ear pieces and gadgets in their hands started meeting with the refs. At about 9:45 they left the field without the teams ever coming out. I left the stadium then, and can confirm that on my walk back to my car a big lightning bolt hit close to campus at about 10:00. Close enough that I ran the last couple of hundred yards to my car.
