The other 15 schools told LSU to stop weeks ago and they kept going, including getting the SEC/Sankey brought into the suit. They could have shut this down weeks ago but wanted to keep pushing. frick around and find out.

All because of Chambliss.

You sound like a fricking idiot. What about all the 6th, 7th and 8th year players playing in college football? What about those players? fricking idiot.

Ain't my program, frick LSU in general, but this seems like pouring gas on a fire when the fire was finally dying out.

Taking all this public and threatening to expel LSU is terrible for the long term image and branding for the SEC, so the rest of us in the conference are affected too

But they have that already.

Not really. Once again just using the most recent LSU / players example - a state court just told the SEC they couldn't enforce their rules in this situation.

So if a State court can just make a decision like that anytime a lawsuit is brought in state court, the SEC doesn't really have any power.

How do they get power? Have a federal court directly rule on the issue (I.e. the SEC can make and enforce their own rules).

Sigh.......idk how many times it needs to be repeated, but for the people in the back: LSU WAS NOT A PARTY TO THE STATE COURT SUIT. LSU did not bring SEC/Sankey into the suit, the players did. LSU still has not sued anybody.

Because LSU (Kiffin) had a hand in orchestrating these kids to sue the NCAA and the SEC (violating SEC rules) and costing the conference money in legal fees.

So, again, the SEC wasn’t originally a named defendant. That only came when they expressly forbid these players from returning.

So the assertion being made is Kiffin and LSU colluded with 300+ athletes, from multiple schools, to sue the NCAA in hopes that the SEC would say and/or do something to get themselves added to the lawsuit?

The SEC is alleging the LSU administration conspired with the players to file a suit against the NCAA/SEC.

No. They. Are. Not. Please find that allegation in the complaint.

Sankey is trying to use this opportunity to move more power from the hands of member institutions to the league office.

Sankey is trying to establish some sort of control in a situation that's complete chaos right now. He's trying to say, "if you're going to play in the SEC you're going to have to follow rules X,Y,Z. And if you don't, then maybe you don't need to be a member."

Someone walk me thru this, is it over allegations that LSU induced the NFL players to come back? I have been racking my small brain and cannot come up with a reason for today's escalation other than maybe that.

Seemed like it was a done issue when Lane didn't roster or play them, now we have a meeting Thursday about expelling LSU!

Inb4 dumb shite like Sankey is butthurt, I am serious, no one seems to have an answer why.

The biggest issue LSU has is Lane calling NFL players to sue the SEC/NCAA for eligibility. That's tampering beyond tampering.

How did LSU do that? If they SEC hadn’t said anything they wouldn’t have been added.

Again, if there was actual evidence of this, it would be alleged in the complaint. It's not.

1) according to the SEC, LSU collided with these “NFL” players to sue the NCAA and SEC

2) Loss of institutional control. Kiffin saying “imagine if we played NFL players” and his halftime team speech show LSU has no control over Kiffin.

I think it has more to do with the SEC wanting a court to affirm that they have the power to remove a conference member if the rest of the conference members think it is in the best interests of the conference. I don't think they would vote to do it at this time but if the court rules in the SEC's favor, it could cut through a lot of red tape in the future.

Lane didn't come to Florida because we didn't want to give him full control of the roster and everything that came with it.

LSU didn't give a frick, and here we are.

But if the ruling ultimately went in LSU's favor

The court case was between a group of athletes looking for eligibility and the SEC. LSU was not a party to either side of the actual court case (which will have tremendous consequences in the pending civil suits should the SEC want to step too far out on the ledge). LSU obviously had a tremendous amount to gain, I am not trying to act naive to that, but in the strictest definition of the law and how a judge will see this moving forward, this is the conference leadership's panicked response. They have no legal recourse to hurt the actual plaintiffs (student athletes) here, so they are going to try to take it out on anyone loosely associated (but not legally associated).

The judge gave the players their eligibility and LSU still didn't roster them. That's also not going to play very well for the conference here. This is 100% to do with Sankey's pride and the fact that he came into a courtroom completely unprepared and the actual court record proves it. He was exposed for what he is, and this is a weak attempt to try to regain some of the foolish pride he left on that stand.

I think ultimately this hurts him specifically. Not only will the member institutions cover their own (for the sake of enormous negative financial implications), but there is no doubt that there are side conversations between university presidents and AD's about moving on from Sankey after this. He is in over his head and doubling down on stupid. LSU will be able to fund the biggest NIL budget in the country solely on what they will recoup in a civil suit should the SEC vote to remove LSU.

The players have said this?

And the lawsuit has nothing to do with the vote that's about to happen Thursday, other than re-affirming their authority to do so.

Keep up.

So I'm sure this has been already answered a hundred times. But if the ruling ultimately went in LSU's favor and they were told by the courts they were allowed to have those guys, why didn't they roster them or play them?

To the best of my knowledge I have no idea. Outside of the halftime interview quip Lanes only public statements have been “we are going to comply with the SEC.”

It’s pretty obvious that it has nothing to do with the players and everything to do with the way Lane and The Governor operate. They just do things their own way.
