Is this in response to cover? Why the two 7 innings? Seems like that doesn't make much sense.

Ahhh. I wasn't aware of that. odd.

Either way, no CWS made for a very dull summer. Hopefully that happens this time.

We need the mid week games as many players as we will have on the roster. Need to get the freshmen pitchers in the mix.

That would be ridiculous. Sunday's already have it tough with the #3s. #4s going against SEC offenses too. Seems like a recipe for long high scoring games that go past travel curfew.

4 game weekends will accomplish that for the pitchers, and they’ll be tested more.

Bring it on, but it sucks for the programs that count on the SEC ooc matchups.

Everyone should be well-prepped for regional play.

Everyone better have 2 solid catchers. Game 2 or 3 saturdays could get sketchy covering the dish

Seems like if you are eliminating mid-week games, it would be better to play Thursday through Sunday. It's only four more innings total, and the extra day would allow more pitchers that might pitch on Thursday, or possibly Friday, to return later in the series.

The Monday morning QBing of coaches pulling pitchers early in the weekend is going to entertaining. I cannot wait to melt about not having any pitching left on Sunday

It's there to make-up for not having midweek games during conference season. Lose a game in the midweek but pick up an extra game on the weekend. It would be a little much to ask pitching staffs to throw 36 innings from Friday night to Sunday afternoon having four 9-inning games. They already have 7 inning DHs when a game is postponed for weather, so it's not without precedent to do the same as a matter of habit for Saturday DHs all season.

Sure, but it's also going to be the best preparation a team could ask for leading into postseason play when you're going to need a #4 to step up and start.
