You had a paid QB, among others, who never attended class at Auburn until he was in the NFL. If there ever was a NC with a huge asterisk, it’s Auburn’s. Everybody knows that.

Still melting harder 11 years later than anybody is over UGA's three weeks ago...

LOL, that bad boy can be elusive. Y’all need something cause it might be a few more decades on the football front.

Maybe not better but made for a better story.

The larger issue IMO was UGA playing a weak end of season schedule while others had tough games.

lots of players are injured every season. Alabama was down to one single healthy running back from 5 early in the year.

Yep.

quote:

Metchie and Williams, though, were the 2 primary receivers for Alabama and with Williams healthy in the SEC title game, and Metchie till the 2nd half, Alabama soundly beat UGA.

Our top receivers heading into the season?

Kearis Jackson, George Pickens, Dom Blaylock, Darnell Washington, Arian Smith and Jermaine Burton.

Pickens got back for the Orange Bowl but was on a 20 play limit. Blaylock missed the entire year. Washington missed a huge chunk of the year. Smith missed most of the year. Jackson was nowhere near 100%. Jermaine Burton was dinged up all year and I don't think was ever at 100%.

We ended up playing a RS Freshman in McConkey, true freshman Brock Bowers at TE, true freshman Adonai Mitchell at WR.

We were missing high 4* RB Kendall Milton...but that was all at RB.

quote:

Would have been significantly different had both went down and out during the season.

Maybe. but we have no way of knowing thta. Y'all came after and got Jermaine Burton for a reason. Apparently the guys you have have caused concern about their abilities.

We were missing our top 5-6 receivers, so you'll have to excuse us if we don't feel bad for Alabama missing two.

quote:

Saban is a very good coach, probably the best ever, but he doesn't rotate much, especially with true freshman coming in for upperclassmen.
That philosophy could help with the portal, in that players come in for y'all not expecting a lot of playing time. Or it could hurt if somebody gets hurt, and the youngsters need to play.

Williams getting hurt was the best thing for Ga. No way Bammer loses if he remains in game. No doubt.

No way?

Hmmmm....and if we had had no injuries? How would the game have ended then?

I'm not convinced that Georgia was *the* best team in 2021. They won the NC but were they the absolute best? I have my doubts.

Lol. I hate UGA as much as the next guy but this is the dumbest statement ever. What does this even mean? They were the only 14-1 team at the end of the year and had the highest margin of victory. Lol

Thank you for being able to put aside our rivalry. I know it isn't easy to do.

I'm just glad when my team won the title we didn't need any mulligans, won our conference, and didn't have to play a depleted squad in the title game.

All for $180k and a cadre of some of the biggest thugs the league has seen in a generation.

A bargain.

I agree. Uga losing the SEC CG was best

That way there is only one team in SEC history to go 15-0 still.

If Georgia was the best team, why did they lose to Bama in the SECCG?

Depletion and the Better team doesn’t always win.

then barely win against a depleted Bama in the NCG?

Uga was depleted and won by 15.

Losing the SECCG isn't what won UGA the title, Metchie and Williams and the bama secondary being injured was.

No randy, all of the injuries to uga players is why bama win the seccg. We finally overcame them in the national title game.

People probably should come to the realization that they are not smarter than Vegas. Vegas still had UGA as favored vs Bama after that seccg. An elite QB usually affects Vegas odds by <1 TD yet somehow Jameson Williams is worth more than 15 points? UGA could possibly break the record for most NFL players taken from a team in the draft. Some people are good about making something complicated that isn’t complicated.

Dude stop, Bama lost to A&M and GA.

2 losses > 1 loss, which means GA was better.

It showed on the field and definitely in that 4th qtr where we lit their arse up with all freshmen.

Not sure why that is such a big deal to LSU fans. I mean, they don't give you an extra trophy or anything. It doesn't mean you were nay better than you already were. There have been several teams in the SEC that won a championship and went undefeated. Does beating Georgia Southern, Northwestern State or Utah State in 2018 say your team is that much better than Alabama in 2020, for instance? They didn't play any OOC cupcakes, and that is essentially the difference in 2019 LSU and 2020 Alabama.

You know, i thought UGA losing the SECCG was better for them in the long run too. I didnt think Alabama this year would beat them twice. I think if UGA handled them in atlanta, Bama was gonna roll them in the title
