That is a bit of a strong reaction. He was a 5 star guy that probably never quite became what he thought he’d be but he still gave it 3 years before leaving. Some kids only give it a year. He was also likely passed on the depth chart. While it sucks he is going to a team UGA just lost to, he isn’t going to a historical rival. Imagine how tech feels with Isiah Canion transferring to UGA.

It’s a fool’s errand to pay 17-18 year olds based on POTENTIAL. Only the truly most elite high schoolers should get the big checks. Your hit rate is going to be much higher paying 23 year old full grown men with PROVEN college production. That is where the dollars are going to increasingly go. I hate it, but it is the truth.

1. It is age.
2. It is proven production.
3. It is having played 4+ years in college to strengthen the body and scheme understanding.

34.6% of Indiana’s starts this year were from recruits. Only team with slightly less from the playoff field was Ole Miss with 33.7%. UGA had the most starts by recruits with it being 90%. I believe UGA had the 2nd youngest roster in the SEC, only behind Tennessee. Indiana’s average age was also a bit over 23.2 years old, which is the oldest. They have adults playing against kids. You guys reckon I could play on my son’s middle school flag football team? I’m a bit over the hill at 42 but I’m still a fairly athletic 6’ 2” 200lb guy.
Really not too worried about it. UGA had an incredibly young roster (and was quite banged up) and still beat every team they played at least once. They’ll be all right.
I also focus a lot more on the COVID eligibility and all of the granted NCAA waivers more than most. A huge portion of the teams in the playoffs have 23+ year old QB’s and old rosters. Being 25 and playing against 18-21 year old kids should lead to success. I don’t see how anyone is surprised by this. NCAA has zero teeth so sadly this will continue to be a wart on the game. I’ll guess we will have to deal with the Diego Pavia’s of the world running over 18 year olds and then talking trash like they have accomplished something after doing so.
1. UGA is one of the youngest teams in the sec.
2. First year as a starter at QB.
3. DL and OL are returning almost everyone.
4. UGA was way more banged up than Ole Miss.
5. UGA improved a though through the year Kirby had to coach this bunch up to improve them. We did lose 2 games but there were about 4 others we could have lost, so we basically went 4-2 in close games is the way I look at it.
6. Ole Miss’ 23 1/2 year old QB and kicker both played out of their minds and we still basically lost based on 1 missed kick.

This is the classic case of young guys learning how to win and how to play in big games. Teams normally have to get close before they break through.
Chas Chambliss played a full 4 years in college and just finished his rookie year in the NFL. He is still younger than Trinidad Chambliss and Trinidad is trying for yet another year. UGA was on the benefitting end of this with Stetson but I still hate all these 6-7 year players. 23-27 year olds should dominate 18-21 year olds. It’s really not hard to figure out. NCAA has no teeth though so they will keep granting additional years of
eligibility.
Indiana is physical. They beat OSU in one type of game and are now showing they can win multiple types of games. I hate what college football has become but they are good. I read that 34.6% of their 2025 starts are by recruits. None of their players are Indiana players but they are good players.
Saban is the best ever but Kirby has also had an insane track record. Kirby damn near won 3 in a row. As great as Saban was, nobody can be as dominant as they once were because you can’t stack talent in a NIL world with the portal.
It seems Bowens is mainly generally just banged up all over and a few weeks is exactly what he needs. Hell, Stockton probably needs a bit of time off also. Frazier even took some shots today
Tulane grad here. It’s a good year to be a UGA fan that graduated from Tulane.
I agree that it was technically a face mask, but the bama player absolutely had a face mask also…..
At this point I guess the question is, will UGA lose any players that largely committed due to Curtis being in the class?
Yeah. It won’t be a one guy makes up for Colbie kind of thing. Thomas and Wiley will both get more snaps. TE’s will also pick up some of the slack. Luckie in particular.
I trust Thomas’ hands but Colby’s hands were 100% on point. He also has been the more powerful runner with the ball in his hands. Not sure Thomas has the same leg drive.
CJ Allen has been inconsistent, but i’d still have to say him. That punch out vs Auburn was big and he has been super active and a tone setting leader.

Even if we still just had Damon Wilson this would be a completely different team. Damon Wilson would actually still be competing for something and UGA would have a much improved pass rush. If only he would have stayed.
For me life of me I haven’t been able to understand the pass interference calls this year. A lot of them have been ticky tack or outright non-existent. I saw some of that today. I don’t see how those get called then Dillon Bell took a lot more contact on his huge catch that helped seal the game. Thankfully he caught it because they didn’t flag that one
There were at least 2 instances where a drive would have ended if we had wrapped up
