Losing the SECCG was the best thing for UGA

Dawgs had pretty much cruised through the season and were a little complacent. Whichever team won the SECC was likely going to lose the NC.

Regardless, UGA was obviously the best team in college football in 2021.

Was it though? If UGA beats bama and then Notre dame or Baylor gets their spot, I still see UGA winning in the playoffs.

You guys did win the NC according to the rules.

This point I'm not so sure about. Very good defense but offense was mediocre. Luckily, 2021 was a down year for offense across the board. Bama's offense was the best in the country and even then it had limitations.

Anyways congrats on the NC.

UGA’s offense was third in points per drive. How is that mediocre?

Why exactly? UGA would have murdered Notre Dame in the Semis and Michigan in the Final. Losing the SECCG meant they ended up having to play the team with the best chance of beating them

Yeah, they only scored 2 TDs in the 4th when the game had been trading FGs otherwise.

Anyone can cherry pick stats to make their squad look good

Good defense has a lot to do with this stat in case you didn't know.

How can a season long statistic be cherry-picking?

lol how is that a cherry picked stat? UGA had one of the most efficient offenses in the nation. If UGA wasn’t up 3 touchdowns on every opponent by the third quarter then UGA would’ve averaged more points per game.

Look I know you want people to agree with you but this Georgia team was not really any better than last year's Georgia team.

You guys got beat by a better team in the SECCG. That was not the same team you faced in the NC. Anyways, congrats and enjoy your NC.

Quit trying to get more juice out of this high than it really deserves.

Except for allowing less points per game and averaging more points per game.

Injuries are part of the game. It’s not UGA’s fault our frosh receivers could make plays and Bama’s couldn’t. Also, wasn’t UGA also missing players? UGA was down their best pass rusher for both games, didn’t have a healthy Pickens for either game, was missing their starting safety for both games, and was missing a starting OL for both games.

Why did you guys lose the SECCG? Answer that one.

Why did bama lose to A&M? I guess by your logic A&M is the real champ this year. Imagine complaining about “cherry picked stats” then forming an argument on a one game sample size…

The SECC was the exception to 15 games worth of consistent performance by both UGA and Bama.

You started the thread. If Georgia was the best team, why did they lose to Bama in the SECCG? and then barely win against a depleted Bama in the NCG?

I'm not convinced that Georgia was *the* best team in 2021. They won the NC but were they the absolute best? I have my doubts.

Anyways enjoy your win man. Georgia was very fun to watch at times and I'm happy for most of your fanbase

I think most UGA fans, and other college football fans, wanted to see the two best teams in the nation face each other in the NCG. I think the scenario that we ended up with was best. UGA fans wanted Bama on the field when we won it all. Happened for the best.

Checks notes.
SEC Championship-- Georgia vs Alabama
National Championship-- Georgia vs Alabama

Yep. Same teams

I think it was evident that UGA fans just wanted a Natty at any/all cost(s). If Bama, so much the sweeter but they would have been happy beating the shite out of Cincinnati too.
