I actually don’t understand the thought process.
Everyone gets a piece of what they want; that's the idea they're going with.

LSU gets to keep the Bama series.
Florida gets to keep the UGA game.
Ole Miss gets to keep the LSU series.
A&M gets to keep the LSU series.

I thought they'd keep the LSU-Fla series, but then I didn't expect to keep the Bama one.

Ole Miss was a major rival for LSU from about 1957 to 1972, the Johnny Vaught era. The game lost its significance soon afterwards, as the Rebels have maintained a level of sustained mediocrity for decades.

Seems that Florida’s ranked rivalries are:

1. Uga
2. Fsu
3. Tennessee
4. Auburn going way back
5. LSU
6. Miami

And we don’t make it in their top three.

Sad but true.

LSUs top ranked are:
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Ole miss
Miss state
Arkansas
Texas AM

Agree. Whether it becomes 8 or 9 conference games its hard to believe they can't find a way to keep 4 or 5 as permanent ones. I understand the thought that folks want to see the other teams more regularly. But there has to be a balance in every other year vs 12 years as when Tennessee came to Baton Rouge last year.

Yep. Even if both teams stink, been some fun games and tough battles. I still want to make the trek to DV for a UF/LSU game

Exactly! It’s the most underrated rivalry in the SEC IMO. It has had it all in recent years. Super tense games, road upsets, mutual fan hatred that has really intensified in recent years. Damn shame to be losing the annual game if that is indeed the final decision.

I wonder how many people are aware that these two teams have met 52 straight seasons.

I’m pissed off personally too because it’s a super easy trek to Hogtown for me. Been down there for every LSU-Florida football game since 1990.

I’d 100% give up a non-Big Six permanent in OM or ATM if LSU could keep UF annually.

Sincerely no offense intended to either of those two schools, but LSU-UF is just different and quintessential SEC football.

even presidents that want to keep divisions

This is the worst idea of them all. Even the stupidity of having Bama play LSU instead of MSU every year is better than trying shoehorn divisions into this.

I enjoyed this game way more than any other game. So many good close ones over the years.

For years on this site LSU fans have bitched about having to play Florida every year while Bama got Tenn.

Now they whine about not playing Florida every year?

Gainesville is a little further from Baton Rouge than College Station, Tuscaloosa and Oxford, but it's not excessively so.

Maybe a the crow flies, but Gainesville is an 8+ hour drive from Baton Rouge. Oxford and Tuscaloosa are both about 5 hour drives and College Station is about 5 and a half hours.

You're telling me with a straight face LSU's second biggest rival is Auburn over Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, or aTm?

There’s absolutely no reason for LSU to have aggy or ole miss over the gators.

I think for the permanent opponents they are going to heavily weight geography. I don't agree with that, just think thats what happens.

I agree. Unfortunately, none of the powers that be or TV executives are going to ask the common fan who they want their team to play. I feel like it would be a pretty easy fix if that would be done.

My main issue is this. When we went from a 7 to 8 game conference schedule we lost the Miami and the Auburn rivalries. Now we may lose the Tennessee and LSU rivalries and only be left with Georgia. Is there any other school who has lost so many important games? That is 4 of our 6 that we no longer play annually. It's kind of ridiculous to lose that many when you play 12 games and you can't figure out how to let us play 2 of our top 4 conference rivals. Our SEC list is Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn and we can't even get two of the 4. Including our OOC rivals we get to play 2 of the 6.

It's what happens when a team leaves a conference not stays in the same conference. If we end up with only Georgia and none of our other rivals I will definitely be disappointed. Even more so when I see others getting 2 and 3 of their top rivals annually.

who are the other two teams rumored to be Florida's permanent rivals besides Georgia?

Yes sir. Me too. I just wish we would be more competitive with y'all. I understand if Tiger fans, particularly younger ones, would rather see Gata than the Rebs.

I think Florida and Auburn want to play. I say let 'em play.
