I'll never understand the love some Arkansas folks have for Gus Malzhan?

What the hell has he done in the last decade to make folks think he could do anything worthwhile at Arkansas?

He did beat Saban more than any other coach. That's a pretty good mark on the resume these days.

Keep Sam. Better next year. Plus, he's a damned decent guy.

Shut down the football program if they pull this shite.
Programs should never put themselves in a situation where they cant afford to fire a coach if he tanks for 2 years. There aren't very many coaches out there worth more than a 15 million dollar buyout. Or at the very least tie the buyout to their last 2 years performance.

Tell them if they want alot then they have to perform or they can get canned for cheap. If they don't believe in themselves enough to accept the schools are probably better off without them.

I don't believe Mustain likes Gus that much.

Record (Covid year 3-7), 9-4, 7-6, and now 3-7. That is not the direction you want.

I remember the SEC Network chose Arkansas as the "Inside SEC" team that week. When they showed him addressing his team in the locker room, you could tell he was defeated and had no answers. It sounded like he was trying to console himself more than his own team. It was brutal.

If anyone can find that episode from last year, I suggest y'all watch it. That oink doink destroyed him.

If he could get over his ego he could be a great coach.

Arkansas will probably keep him and then decide to get rid of him mid-season next year and put themselves back another year.

I'm glad to hear this.
Schools need to stick with their end of the contract.
If the coach doesn't work out, then don't renew the contract when the time comes.

Sooo, UCF > Arkansas? Surely you jest.

It’s not that the UCF job is better than Arky. Gus knows if he went there, on Day One, there’d be a “Fire Gus” movement. Just not worth the trouble of going to a place where there will be a fan support deficit before he ever steps foot on campus.

I think Gus will do well overall at UCF, and then one day a Texas school will nab him. Something like a TCU or a Texas Tech will come nab him for bigger dollars.
