Quite right. I was thinking 1996 vs Syracuse was Elite 8 but the 2 point loss prevented us from advancing to 8.

Yes, but he had to rebuild the foundation of the program.
While true that UGA always recruited well, but they primarily got blue-chip skill guys. The LOS were always thin and lacking in top-end talent. He completely changed this.
He also changed culture from players-coach to total hard-arse.
