I sincerely believe Pittman was hired to lay the foundation for the future of Arkansas football.

The program is in total shambles with horrific play in the trenches.

Pittman brings assured coaching for the offensive line and will put together at the least a normal program to play SEC-style football. I don’t know if he’ll really compete for championships or make a lot of noise.

But he’ll at least put the program on a path that makes Arkansas attractive to decent coaches in the future.

I imagine every decent coach said no way to trying to fix what Morris did.

Just my opinion.

Mizzou fans had some fun during the coaching search trolling the board. But we didn’t have to fake troll with our actual hire.

I kinda hurt for them.

Is this the guy that recruited the fattest ol in all of football?

How far down was he on your wishlist?

First and foremost, for Pittman, the Arkansas HC job is not a liferaft, it's not a "first big school opportunity" for an up and coming head coach, it's not primarily about getting a huge pay day leveraged by a manipulative agent. He's 58 years old. It will be at minimum two or three years for him to get Arkansas back to winning football. Due to his age and how much he loves the area (he was our OL coach from 2013-2015; he's from Oklahoma), it's almost certain this is his last stop in his coaching career. This is the pinnacle for what has already been an incredible career. Pittman has been one of the most highly regarded offensive line coaches and recruiters in the southeast for the last 10+ years. His linemen and the offenses that benefited from his linemen speak for itself by the numbers. "His first two offensive lines at Arkansas led the SEC in sacks allowed per game and his offensive line in 2014 paved the way for two 1,000-yard rushers in Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins. In Pittman’s final year in Fayetteville his offensive line contributed to an offense that finished second in the SEC in total offense (456.8 ypg), second in scoring (40.2 ppg), third in passing offense (264.2 ypg)." ( LINK). That 2015 Arkansas offense was #1 nationally for offense efficiency. No matter what offense you run, it can't be effective without a good offensive line. In addition to the numbers, the testimony from his players about how much they love playing for Pittman speaks volumes. Pittman knows the SEC and he's an elite recruiter. As far as I can tell, he brings no baggage and is a stand up guy. I expect he will have no problem hiring quality assistants who also know the SEC. It doesn't hurt that this move also weakens a SEC foe. Won't lie, taking back this coach from Georgia feels suhweet. Interesting tidbit: he actually played DE for Pittsburgh St (Kansas) and was a NAIA All-American.

I picture you with sweat on your forehead as you type this.

I read every word in the hopes of figuring out who he is, and all I know is what he did 4-6 years ago.

Did yall grab a former OL coach off the couch or what? Literally never heard of the dude.

Congrats though. If you're happy, I'm happy.

Kiffin is a meme

He’s a meme that just won a second conference championship at his current job and before that he brought the spread to Bama and they won a title and the west a whole lot. I’m sure y’all had your sites set higher though

Did not read the post but PittBoss is a good dude and I’ll be pulling for him. Sounds like he’s already made a good hire for DC.

Oh he won at Bama? Shocker.

And winning at the G5 level makes you a shoo-in. Just ask Nebraska. And Texas. And Texas again. And FSU. And Tennessee.

Bama’s offense regressed each of Kiffin’s three years. In 2016 he had at minimum top 5 talent but was only 24th in offense efficiency.

Alabama offense efficiency pre-Kiffin OC:
2012: 90.3 (2nd)
2013: 85.7 (6th)

Alabama offense efficiency with Kiffin as OC:
2014: 84.9 (7th)
2015: 74.7 (16th)
2016: 70.8 (24th)

Arkansas fans can simultaneously not give Kiffin credit for any of his accomplishments as an OC at Bama while thinking the O Line coach was the mastermind behind having solid rushing offenses under a head coach running a Big 10 offense.

Not sure why you think Pittman will run that type of offense. That was Bret's obsession, not his.

About as stupid as assuming Orgeron will run Mile's offense just because he's big and talks funny.

Edit: incidentally, Bret also knocked y'alls dicks in the dirt running that offense more often than not, regardless of your cheating.
