Very surprised at this. Wow
Eta: This is a hell of a coaching opportunity for the new candidates. Great tradition and history, dedicated fanbase, best ball park in the league.

Because we won that natty in spite of Lemonis not because of him.

Heard LSU pitching coach Yeskie is the front runner. Let’s see how this plays out.

I don’t think you can get young and energetic without the douchebaggery.

Been mentally preparing for this possibility for a couple of months now. Think Wes has, too, which is why he brought Ammirati in from UK to his offseason
If State hires Coggin I am 99% sure Ammo is coming too. They both played at State.

Solid coach. Was pitching coach under Augie at UT. Not sure he would leave OU but would be great for MSU if they could convince him to move.

What deltaland said.
OM had a team of Covid seniors that got hot at the right time and Corch Binaca’s coaching light bulb dimmer switch went from shag carpet lounge to high beam for a few weeks as related to pitching changes.

Heffner has made it abundantly clear he has zero interest in leaving. People have already offered him more money but he stayed put.

Why would they not hire Auburn or Kentucky coach. State is a much better job than either one of those places. Both those coaches have been great and have tons of SEC experience. Seems obvious
After the CWS appearance, Mingione’s buyout is pretty sizable at $1.4 million for every year through 2029.

Yeh I think Mingione's buyout is the main barricade there, I'd bet he would be State's top target otherwise. Good move on UK, I think that's gonna almost eliminate him from contention. I'd certainly be happy pulling him.

Surprised it happened mid-season
I wouldn’t call it mid-season. We are near the end of ours. I wouldn’t have wanted to wait any longer.

Think you are missing that State/LSU/Texas are the best programs/history in the conference by a mile. Just becuase there has been some flash in the pan results from a few other schools (Baby V's Tenner) doesn't mean we can hire exactly who we want.. But then again our new AD has the potential to frick this right up. Can discount it all ya want but its the truth..
