How is any of this surprising? We are glazed by the Heisman but the dude was a documented me first locker room cancer at AZ St. And BK huffing his sack didnt help.

Should ban this shite head now. Embarrassing.
Agree with Adam on Hood and his potential for rotation but we need WSchmidt to take that next jump if there is any hope of moving Evans to the pen. Cant count on the freshman but would be a nice surprise. Just need Moore to come back as Moore for a Sun role.

Which Schmidt are you referencing here? Lol

It prob applies to both regardless. Max effort/reach back when needed - 98. Cruising mid 90s.

Naive. SEC hitters can turn that around easily if its flat and poorly located. Watch a few W Schmidt appearances this past season particularly when he struggled landing his offspeed.
According to Spotrac the Pirates have $61k left with 13/21 picks still to sign including their 5th rounder with a $500k+ slot.

With the 5% bonus they could offer maybe $900k signing no other picks. Highly unlikely but weird shite has happened before.
The content below is AI slop but I want to believe...

The current chatter and consensus surrounding 17-year-old left-hander Logan Schmidt (No. 59 overall) point strongly toward him honoring his commitment to LSU rather than signing with the Cleveland Guardians before the Monday, July 27 deadline.

Here is a breakdown of the prevailing industry intelligence, slot economics, and factors driving the speculation:

1. Financial Leverage & Bonus Pool Constraints
Slot Value vs. Stated Price: The slot value for pick No. 59 is $1,598,900. Schmidt’s asking price pre-draft was rumored around $4.5M–$5M due to his high-ceiling profile (a top-15 national prep talent with a mid-90s fastball).

Cleveland's Financial Box: Cleveland used much of its allotted bonus pool across its early picks and has very little wiggle room remaining. Under MLB Draft rules, exceeding a bonus pool by more than 5% results in the loss of a future first-round pick—a line teams rarely cross for a 2nd-round selection. MLB Pipeline explicitly noted over the weekend that Cleveland simply "does not have room in its bonus pool to offer him much more than" the ~$1.6M slot value.

2. The Case for LSU: Youth & Draft Eligibility
Reclassification & Age: Schmidt originally belonged to the 2027 draft class before reclassifying to 2026, meaning he turned 18 just days ago.

Draft Eligibility Timeline: Because he is young for his class, Schmidt would be eligible for the 2028 MLB Draft after just two seasons at LSU (or as a 19-year-old sophomore), rather than having to wait three full years.

Betting on Himself: Analysts and recruiting insiders (such as 247Sports and Baseball America) view Schmidt as having top-10 or even 1st-overall potential under Jay Johnson’s development in Baton Rouge. If he pitches up to his potential at LSU, he could command a top-10 bonus ($6M+) in two years.

3. Current Odds & Deadline Chatter
Heading into the Deadline: As of the final weekend before the July 27 deadline, Schmidt remains one of only two unsigned players in the top two rounds.

Industry Rumblings: MLB writers and LSU beat reporters widely expect Schmidt to let the deadline pass unsigned. Absent a sudden, massive last-minute reallocation of funds by Cleveland—which appears mathematically unlikely—the consensus is heavily tilted (80%+ probability) toward Schmidt stepping on campus in Baton Rouge this fall.

If he remains unsigned when the 4:00 PM ET deadline passes on Monday, Cleveland will receive a compensatory pick (No. 60 overall) in the 2027 MLB Draft, while LSU secures the headliner of Jay Johnson's 2026 recruiting class.

Yep. I used to cut them out vertically until I took out a sprinkler pipe.

Not about the MLB prospects obviously but this quote from a scout caught my attention.

Never heard "muscle hamster" before. LOL.
