It makes no sense for any major program to hire a coach who is not an elite recruiter.
Gus is far from that.
That hire would rank up there with Auburn-Harsin, USC-Muschamp, and MSU-Croom level of stupidity.

How exactly is UF's potential greater than Ole Miss?
Sure they were better in the past, but Ole Miss is currently more bought in and more organized than Florida. Plus, Lane does whatever he wants and gets to live in Oxford, which is a better town than Gainesville.
They also don't have to play Georgia every year.

NIL, the portal, more schools recruiting the state of Florida more now than in the past and the rise of other big Florida schools within the state have hurt such potential.
Now with a 12 team playoff, you don't have to go to a Florida to make one.

In a heartbeat
Really don't think so. Mizzou sucks but I think you'd even have a hard time getting Drink out of there. Florida is a horrible job right now and with a 12 team playoff + NIL you don't necessarily need to be at historic power to win big (hypothetically).

No way in hell that opportunist Kiffin would go to that dumpster fire. He's leaving Old Piss, but not for Floriduh.

This thread proves that, after all these years, y’all know nothing about Lane Kiffin. His ego would never allow him to turn down the Florida job. It just wouldn’t. I mean, he almost destroyed his relationship with his own daughter to go to that dump on the Plains and compete against Saban (at the time)….if UF called he wouldn’t be able to help himself. He would tell his daughter that she “would understand” one day, otherwise she could get bent. By any metric imaginable Florida is a “bigger” job. He gone.

What is the evidence for this? I've never heard this stuff about his daughter and that relationship.

That "dump" is 35-12 against you...
Either way, if they offer, he's out. I've said this for at least 2 years. Ole Miss is cool, but no way can you be considered elite if you haven't won the conference in 60 years. Never been to Atlanta in the SECCG era. Hell, Moo State has at least been...

National Power? Nah
Would he leave? In about 11 seconds. Enough time to message “bye kids”

Kiffin is maxed out on pay where Florida can’t afford him. It would take 11M plus for a dude who hasn’t won anything significant to leave his current situation.
OM has the funds to match anything fsu or Florida will offer.

Kiffin’s ego will take the Florida job.

Florida going to three head coaches would be ground breaking.

UF fans want a hire that can get their program to the ceiling. Malzahn probably gets them out of the basement, but not to the ceiling.
UCF has more resources than people realize. Its rapidly become a VERY large school. They play a very favorable schedule.

Various media outlets are mentioning these guys along with a few others (namely Univ of Washington's HC, Jedd Fisch
So if an outlet mentions Nick Saban we should take it seriously?opinions are like buttholes and they also all pull for the mutts

You gotta look outside of the university and program.
For guys with paychecks as large as these coaches, you're overlooking a significant factor: no state income tax.

Which is a priority of our governor - getting rid of the state income tax.
