You missed the main reason for Kirby’s success is defensive depth? Being able to put depth teams? That’s been a pretty standard bullet point for years now.

I would argue there's a better chance to hold onto depth with NIL.
The best / elite will always turn pro. Although if they'll pay the QB enough maybe he'll stay an extra year. It's the players on the low round or edge of being drafted who can be talked into staying and elevating his draft stock with some actual money coming his way. Mizzou currently has two veteran receivers who are sort of blocking youngsters under this exact scenario. Time will tell if my theory plays out or not.
Kirby's been used to using the old rules to his advantage. Things have changed and so will he if he wants to.

Hmm, you certainly downplayed him kicking off one of our only experienced safeties. Just wanted to make sure you are seeing your own hypocrisy.

This a-hole recruits players of the absolute worst character, gives them a shitload of money and cars, then lets them loose on the university and community.
Eat a bag of dicks, Kirby.

Maybe in some cases, but Other teams use NIL to steal players. The portal is just moving too many players around, and the new guys from the portal aren’t experienced within that teams system.

"I call it the deterioration of football because every year we've been here, I feel like we've had more players capable of going in and play winning football and every year that goes down." - Kirby Smart
I am not sure I am following him here.
-Every year we have more players capable of playing winning football
-Every year that goes down
How do you have more every year and also have the number go down?

Yea, it was odd phrasing but I think he means compared to now, we had more in past seasons, and each year that gets less and less.

So Kirby waited 5 months to dismiss a special teamer that lead a high speed chase in traffic to fight the increase of scholarship players from 85 to 105?
That’s woke woke. Recruit better.

All im saying is that ever since the change to NIL and the transfer portal, Kirby and Saban have been vocally against it. Kirby is still the best and has navigated it all as well as anyone.

And related to that is that these majorly public institutions, for the most part, won't ask the taxpayer to pay for their stadiums - instead raising the money through donations and booster funds.
What an irony!

They do remember the 25+ years after him though.
All but a select few programs would kill for the 25 yr gap between Bryant and Saban. Two SEC titles, one national title, 4 SEC title game appearances, multiple 10 win seasons, and perennial bowl participants. It was only a down period compared to the Bama standard. A better way of putting it might be to say Bama was more like every other FBS program during that time.

I think more and more STL football fans are seeing the light on this point. They don't have to worry about relocation PTSD.

It's only the traditional "haves" that think college football is ailing.
Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz ruffled some feathers with his comments about the current state of NIL deals in college football, telling reporters, "People are making more money on NIL than my brother-in-law who is a pediatrician who saves lives."
Drinkwitz went on to say there are "bad actors" involved in NIL deals and decried that the system is "cavalier."
