Having lived in the Northeast, I agree with this. The difference being it is somewhat hidden behind a broader elitist mentality.

I will also say that, discussing almost any SEC school with a New Yorker/New Englander, racism will be brought up if you're close enough with them. Again, they paint with a broad brush up there and want to feel superior.

Their only experience with the South is through the media.

Heck, a lot of folks on both coasts still believe the middle of the country lives in the 1950's.

After visiting the Northeast, I kind of get it though. If I grew up upper middle class in some immaculate, all white Maine village and never ventured out around the rest of the country, I could see how someone could easily adopt this mentality.

It's also not a secret that the city of Baton Rouge is majority black.

What I'm seeing online from the US Census Bureau (as of 2024):
Oxford: 66% White and 25% Black
BR: 36% White and 50% Black

[BR is also 10X the size of Oxford by population]

As for the student bodies (as of 2024):
Ole Miss: 75% White and 11% Black
LSU: 57-63% White and 19-20% Black

I guess I'm just wondering how much the town/city population demographics matter. Most of the time players are around other students and players are usually worshipped by everyone, regardless of race.

So is Kiffin just saying that everyone in MS, aside from the students, is extremely racist?

Is the general population in MS more racist than in LA these days?

There is absolutely no difference between the two states in how they view race.

I hope lsu fans know that when he leaves them, and he will, that he will then say the poor education and high crime rates impeded his recruiting and was a reason he had to leave.

When my roommate and I got our first apartment in BR we moved a bunch of furniture in. A black friend of his helped us with the move. A girl from Chicago was moving in a few doors down. Her mother came over and asked my dad if they could "borrow our black man" to help them move in.

Remember when the folks up North said they were too dumb to operate a computer (in an around about way) and couldn't get an ID for voting.

Lane Kiffin is getting destroyed by the media and online. Again. He had to try to walk his comments back. Again.

I'm sure this is probably true. I'm also sure that there a racists no matter where you live. It's a perception issue more than anything IMO.

Kiffin is Kiffin. He's doing what he does. This is the result.

LK was quite literally giving an example of the difference in recruiting between the schools. True or not, I'm sure it was a troll to get Ole Miss and fans all riled up, and it has CLEARLY worked. He's a troll, that's what he does.

Not sure what the issue is besides a bunch of sensitive little Sallys got their panties in a wad about a quote a football coach, they claim that sucks, said. If he sucked that bad at coaching, then why get all bent out of shape about some comment in some dumbass magazine article?
