re: Kevin Steele is a tremendous defensive cord @ AU but was ostracized @ LSU. Why?

I can tell you as a fan of a different school I kinda dread playing AU since he has been there. They don't seem to ever miss a tackle and moving against his defense is a slog compared to others. Nothing comes easy. I hope AU fires him but as long as PD is around and knows you can't win in the SEC W/O defense it won't happen.

And he does that in the face of Gus' fast and faster offense. Which is not easy. That's why they (PTB'S) leave him alone.

He is actually a pretty good guy who cheats NCAA rules like Jesse James. You don't go into Clemson S.C. and win 2 national titles beating Alabama and Ohio ST (2 other known cheats) along the way without doing so. Particularly in today's world. Then their are the 4, not one but 4 guys caught running on ethyl rather than regular at the playoffs. That said he likely is a good guy who is super competitive like Saban and Meyer and Harbaugh among current/recent coaches. I think Meyer is obviously a scum bag morally and the others inc Dabo are not. Something ain't quite square @ Mizzou and AU and UF either. But none of these are Ole Miss and Freeze. They retired the trophy. I also expect A&M to start making some news shortly. And others. Too much money being thrown around.

Gus’ fast and faster offense hasn’t been seen for years. Steele’s defense is good, not great. They looked like shite against MSU and UT last year but the lack offense influenced that poor defensive production.

this is why KS was "ostracized" at LSU. DA was what Leslie always wanted.

I'm guessing this will be Aranda's last year in Red Stick. The stage is set for them to have a monster season, and there's not really anything else he should need to do to get a top tier HC gig.
Dude has the makings of a great college HC. It will be interesting to see where he lands.

You are Louisiana dumb for which there is no known cure IF you got the drivel that just came from your tobacco stained teeth and shriveled lips from my post. Dabo re-assessed his sense of right and wrong shortly after entering the coaching profession. And as I stated the realities are this: it is not a sin to help your fellow man in need of such help and if it assists a fellow human being be all they can be. Dabo cheats and when he beat Alabama he beat some more cheats. But those cheats are NCAA rules, not God's rules nor are they moral rules. He entered a profession where that rules breaking began years and years ago and he has excelled at it. As has 99% of others in that profession. Does David Shaw at Stanford cheat Not much if at all since he doesn't have too. But there are other rounded corners. Does Mason at Vandy? Maybe a little but again nothing on going and like what happens at all other SEC institutions because his kids study and are not for the most part recruited much and come from more stable surrounding and some actually qualify for academic grants. Dabo and his staff cheat because they recruit against Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Ohio St, Alabama and Tennessee and LSU. And they (CU) thrive at it. And all those competitors are cheating and thrive to various degrees.
OK I'm lost.
Put down the crack pipe, old man.

Seems the logic is, “if you win, you had to cheat”. About as much factual data as you’d see given around a fire pit with the 8th beer in hand on a Saturday night in SECland.

That's all well and good, but he seems to be under the impression that everyone cheats but Alabama. Not just in his last post/ incoherent drivel, but in general.
I don't even know what to say to such idiocy.

Nah the old boy left us several years ago. Little fattie was his nickname and he believed sunshine would kill a man so it was a footrace between several possible causes of his demise. His only knowledge of Grissom was simply: "Fattie, got any updates? Yeah Grissom is now plus 12 and a half playing at Virginia"
I'd be over at his apartment sometimes in the morning (usually squaring up his tickets he'd written on baseball bets from the day before) and there'd be a ring at the door. He'd open it and the Yellow Cab driver would hand him a quart of Early Times and he's give him a twenty!...every morning.

Steele's numbers as an SEC defensive coordinator are decent (average to slightly above at Auburn and LSU), but tremendous is not the word any unbiased observer would use.

Steele could never be an LSU DC.
Great hire for Auburn tho, he has done a great job.

My memory says we gave up more third and longs than any team in America. I don’t have stats but the busted coverages were happening regularly. What caused these problems can only be guessed at by anyone not associated with the DB room. Hard to argue with LSU’s run of DB play or Steele’s success at Auburn. Bad communication has a hand in much of the worlds problems.

Dabo is the perfect example of the power of a positive, happy demeanor. He is the new Saban, but likeable

Interesting note: every year that Steele was on Saban’s staff at Alabama were years that Alabama did not win a national title.

Because the majority of LSU fans are crazy assholes, and it takes a special personality to put up with their crap.
