As a 1 loss conference champ they're still in.
God I hope not. Pick TCU, PLEASE! Getting the sh!t kicked in again is not cool.

I understand Missou. Cable TV viewers.
Not sure why South Carolina was added. I guess Clemson turned them down.

The average attendance is basically identical, even with Clemson's success. Considering their history and our terrible football history, we shouldn't be anywhere near them.
SC draws well no doubt. But you do have more visitors attending your games than we do. ACC teams travel with about 100 fans in tow. So there’s that.

Clemson 4-1 all time against The Ohio State University in football.

re: Who is Josh Pate talking about with shade tree NIL deals?

he specifically mentions that he told his producers not to play any specific "b-roll" footage, aka the "highlights", because he didn't want to be seen as calling out any specific teams
Yet the entire time he is talking about it highlights are playing.

Now imagine a scenario where I take the 8 best media options from the ACC, leave the ACC to create a new conference and move to Fox network.
ACC GOR goes *poof*
ESPN great contract goes *poof*
Problem solved.

ESPN doesn’t want us to add ACC teams. They already have those teams. Why would they want to pay way more for them?
Because this contract is not sustainable. ACC teams will leave for greener pastures- and if not SEC then other places. You just can’t pay that much under the going rate.

Watching the video, I’d guess Clemson. Those are the team highlights playing as he talks about it. Subliminal message?

It’s about money. How often does that have to be said?
If it was truly “all about the money” they’d kick your sorry asses out. Along with a few others.

I’d vote for it.

Not happening dude. Espn already has those teams. Why would they renegotiate to pay more?
To keep from losing them to Fox.

The schools that leave together will split the legal fees. Bet you $500 million the schools will not pay $500 million.
re: Question for Clemson fans

SEC. This isn't really worth asking.

BIG 10 has always claimed that academics is the first priority of the league. Those new names don't fit that criteria.
You assume the Big 10 is calling the shots. Fox is. They bankroll all of this.

Don’t you have a Southern Conference meeting to go to, Lonnie?

So, ESPN is kneecapping their own product in the ACC to expand the SEC while also paying more per team, etc? Yeah... right.
They will save money. They pay 100 Million to 4 teams rather than 50 million to 14 teams. Do the math.
They are not interested in Wake and Boston College. Besides that, if they DON'T move, Fox will get Clemson. Fox has told B1G to try for Notre Dame and Clemson. Clemson HAS a B1G offer. They'd rather join you guys. Be honored. Accept the offer. It won't cost you a dime.

And maybe ESPN ends up paying the same total amount of money or even less when 4 schools get a big SEC raise while the other 10 in the ACC get a massive cut (paid like Mountain West or AAC schools).
I think you hit the nail on the head with most of your post. They may actually save money by not paying for all of the “dead weight” in the ACC.

I don't think the decision makers care about culture anymore. We'll be doing good just to keep it making sense geographically somewhat
I think geography is part of it, but they are also picking schools that ESPN is willing to pay for to a degree and trying to block B1G out of their territory as well. And in essence, blocking Fox as well.
I think it’s 3 voices working together- The SEC, ESPN, and the schools looking for a new “home”
