Kevin Steele is a tremendous defensive cord @ AU but was ostracized @ LSU. Why?

His squads @ AU are rarely our of position. They tackle better than anyone in the conference. They play with tremendous effort and pride. And they are physical. That's because he is a great football coach. He has total control of the defense at AU. Makes most of the decisions as to whom to recruit. And is insulated in a stable environment with in the team where he is not second guessed. The HC taking all the heat. And it doesn't hurt that he has Rodney Garner recruiting his defensive linemen. LOL! Good job Auburn.

Steele sucked balls at Clemson too. His D almost got Dabo fired. His last game at Clemson they gave up over 70 points to WVU.

Dabo almost got himself fired struggling to win for awhile there. He did a good job @ three things: Stabbing his boss in the back, being the best recruiter in America and bringing SEC level recruiting to the pitiful ACC, and hiring Frank Venables. Steele is a genius @ AU but was a failure @ what my old bookie used to call "Grissom"...LOL! He didn't even know where it was.

Please educate me. How exactly did Dabo “stab his boss in the back”?

One more question- did your “old bookie” learn more about Clemson since the BCS started or did he die ignorant?

Good question. He has done a tremendous job as our DC. We traded Dameyune Craig for Steele. This could possibly be the most one sided trade in the history of mankind.

Nah the old boy left us several years ago. Little fattie was his nickname and he believed sunshine would kill a man so it was a footrace between several possible causes of his demise. His only knowledge of Grissom was simply: "Fattie, got any updates? Yeah Grissom is now plus 12 and a half playing at Virginia"

I'm guessing the old fashioned way. He came off an Alabama staff where Brother Oliver tried to stab Gene Stallings then Mike Dubose did only to have one of my buds on staff try to stab him. I won't mention the bud since he was and is that.

Frank, Sam, Brent whatever. Guy is a dy-no-mite football coach. And typical of Grissom, you go there and people forget your name. I just proved it.

Sounds like quite a character.

That’s not historically correct. Bowden resigned when he was given an ultimatum on win totals after years of mediocrity. He had more than a fair chance. And in parting he recommended Dabo for interim coach mid way through the season. They were both strong Christian men that went to church together, and both of high moral character.

He wasn't up to LSU standards as a DC. He was an upgrade for Auburn.

Dabo "WAS" of high moral character and probably still is except when it conflicts with his competitive drive. The realities of what he does causes certain conflicts. But morally what is wrong with helping others in need. Breaking an NCAA rule, AND THEY ALL DO IT, is not a sin. In fact it can be viewed as THE RIGHT thing to do in today's real world. I could tell you a story about Dabo (and it is a good one concerning his morals at the time) but I won't since it would unnecessarily expose. But he was a great young man.

Then he had the audacity to beat Alabama. Now he's a low character cheat. Got it.

Steele fits in with AU more so than LSU as far as personel goes I think. Lets be honest though, he has stabalized AUs defense but by no means has he had an elite defense at AU. Auburn seems to always have a fairly vanilla scheme that relies on the front 4 to win matchups. The past decade or so LSU seems to rely more on its back end players to be the alphas. You need a DC with some creative blitz packages and aggressiveness to make that work. Steele isnt that DC anymore.

I agree with this. I think Steele is doing a good job, but I don’t view him as elite.

Honestly, he benefits from how bad the D had gotten. We are a good/great not great/elite D right now. Which should be enough if Gus can find his Mojo.

You are Louisiana dumb for which there is no known cure IF you got the drivel that just came from your tobacco stained teeth and shriveled lips from my post. Dabo re-assessed his sense of right and wrong shortly after entering the coaching profession. And as I stated the realities are this: it is not a sin to help your fellow man in need of such help and if it assists a fellow human being be all they can be. Dabo cheats and when he beat Alabama he beat some more cheats. But those cheats are NCAA rules, not God's rules nor are they moral rules. He entered a profession where that rules breaking began years and years ago and he has excelled at it. As has 99% of others in that profession. Does David Shaw at Stanford cheat Not much if at all since he doesn't have too. But there are other rounded corners. Does Mason at Vandy? Maybe a little but again nothing on going and like what happens at all other SEC institutions because his kids study and are not for the most part recruited much and come from more stable surrounding and some actually qualify for academic grants. Dabo and his staff cheat because they recruit against Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Ohio St, Alabama and Tennessee and LSU. And they (CU) thrive at it. And all those competitors are cheating and thrive to various degrees.
