Either pay up or be left behind. That is why rich boosters are doing their part to get top HS recruits/portal players.
Obviously. Kentucky recruiting, especially transfer portal recruiting, has been good. My point is that we’re now in the age of coaches blaming fan NIL support for their losses. No accountability anymore.

Our fanbase is already told that we shouldn’t have high expectations of our football program since we use to go 2-10. We’re called greedy. Now who’s being greedy? Maybe the coach that’s a top ten paid coach to average 7 wins.

So we’re expected to blow money on the program but aren’t allowed to get upset at the return on investment?

Leary has had occasional accuracy problems but our passing game has been a complete shite show this season. Receivers running half assed routes (rounding them off), not making reads in route and they can't beat press coverage to save their lives.

Well that sounds like a coaching problem not a recruiting/talent problem.

He ain’t completely wrong but UK wasn’t on the leaderboard before NIL. If the bagmen were ineffective then what would indicate they’re gonna be effective when it’s legit? NIL is not going to make traditionally lousy to mediocre programs blue bloods… it’s going to be exactly what it’s always been. It may make it possible for 5 years or so but eventually it will level out and the blue bloods will not have changed

Every Kentucky fan on this site thought Leary was a young Tom Brady before the season started

Screw CMS.

The fact is he can only blame himself..
in the past 2 years ; he’s gotten 23 players from the portal and lost 39.

UGA in those 2 years have gotten 4 from the portal and 1 of those Smoke Bouie was already released from the team; none were from UK. Meanwhile UGA lost 30 to the portal ; 15 each year.

Since the transfer rule change … UGA has taken 9 total out of the portal while losing 44.

Not the first time him and Cal have asked fans for money. You know, the multimillionaires.

Anyway, I hate that amateurism is dead now, and you have to pay everyone and pay them handsomely just to lure them to your school.

Unfortunately college football has changed for the worse.

College is about providing opportunities for young people. I would say they have way more opportunities now than ever before.

Fans don’t like it but that’s because they prefer broke college kids living in dorms who grew up with posters on their wall of the teams they would eventually sign with.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. But you can’t, can you? These kids are just taking advantage of people caring way too much about a bunch a college guys playing a game,

Other fans don't understand.

Most of our money is retention.
No. That does not apply to Lovett.
We have a big NIL budget. But it is spent more on keeping the Jalen Carters, Amarius Mims, and Darnell Washingtons.

Whatever you give as a fan, it's never enough anymore. It's sad.

Businesses are not hiring these guys to advertise. They are “hiring” them to play football.

As sad as it is, he's right. It's not Name, image and likeness, it never was gonna be. It was buying players under this bullshite guise. You add on top of that the "players for hire" and you have a mess.

I don't blame the NCAA for taking the hands off approach. They got tired of the hearings in Washington, the cry babies going on about how they are "exploited" when they lived like kings. The NCAA said well, alright, you want it, you got it. You'll come calling for us to step in in a few years but for right now sleep in the bed you dumbasses made.

The whisper number around Lexington is $50 million/year to fund NIL. Can they raise that? questionable

No, we understand fine. Our retention has been an issue (LouKat mentioned earlier in this thread recruits we’ve lost to transfer over NIL). It’s hurt our depth IMO. It’s why we’ve had to go into the portal as much as we have.

The reality is we’re not in a football rich state. We have to go into places like Ohio to snag guys. And we’ve had some success getting some quality players but keeping them under the NIL is another story.

Something else not being mentioned is our NIL initiatives have also been held back by our JMI media partnership. They’ve managed to limit who can market and who can’t. Stoops and others were talking about this way back in 2022 and it’s absolutely absurd. Unfortunately we have a contract with those idiots until 2030:

quote:

For example, Matt shared a story from a message board poster who owns a collectibles business that has a NIL deal with Will Levis and wants to do more but was told he would have to pay JMI $125,000 to use photos of players in their Kentucky uniforms since JMI owns rights to the logo. Whereas other schools in similar situations are offering businesses discounts because the deals are for the players’ benefit, UK and JMI are not, which is just one example of how the administration is not proactive when it comes to NIL.

I really dont care that the Kentucky coach is right. He has been given a long leash at Kentucky and Kentucky fans have treated him well.

I am more worried about the appearance of casting the blame to fans over NIL. Fans did not ask for NIL. Fans live in the real world. They cannot fret because some pimple faced kid wants 10k a visit. So if NIL is going to be a mess in Kentucky, so be it. I side with the fans. CMS gets paid a ton to figure out a way.

You don't read message boards.

And NIL isn't an issue in Kentucky for basketball.
They have money to burn with the best of them.

Which fans asked for NIL?

The "be the change" kind of people that just want the world turned upside down? Sure maybe they did while sucking on their vape pen.

What kind of money does Auburn have

Y’all must be super poverty if Auburn is using money to steal away your recruits.

Auburn has unlimited funds, as evidenced by the +/-$80MILLION they've forked out for coaching buyouts & new hires in just the last 3 yrs while they were building a brand new +$100MM football only facility.

Money is never an issue at Auburn.
