Tua was elite from the get go but he was a true freshman playing behind Hurts. Before all the injuries started taking a toll he could throw any pass, with tremendous accuracy, could throw a receiver open, could read a defense before and after the snap, was good in the pocket but as mobile as any Alabama qb I have seen. Sadly, that mobility and the refusal to quit on a play was his undoing with the hip injury that impacted his game forever.
Russell looks very good for a young guy with very little gametime.

We have a ton of athletic QBs in the SEC, not a ton of processors. To have the football IQ to go with the talent and have it click so fast puts me in mind of Bryce Young. Bryce came out vs. Miami in Atlanta and carved them up all the way to a Heisman that year.

He looks really good and the way things are shaking out UGA and LSU might be the only teams he’ll see whose defense has a pulse.
