It’s true, though. I have no real thought of Missouri. Just such a non-descript sports program.
If you can’t remember that Mizzou is in the SEC, then you know very little of SEC or college football in general. Even the most casual fan of say the PAC-12 could name all the SEC member teams without hesitation.
Perhaps if you created a little cheat sheet you carried in your wallet and referenced before you walked into the sports bar people wouldn’t make fun of you.

1. They killed Jesus.
2. They will argue with you that the sky isn't really blue and never has been blue. Even if they know you are right about something, they will argue with you until they convince you that you are wrong and then smirk about it.
3. They control all the money and banks in the entire world.
4. Their women only marry people from Missouri and won't even consider men from other states.
5. They are unusually smart, even the stupid ones. They are like Asian smart, but even moreso. On top of that, unlike Asians, they are really smug and haughty about their intelligence.
6. They are cheaper than even the Scottish, and that is fricking cheap. Try to sell someone from Missouri something, go ahead and try it. They will Missouri you down until you feel like pulling your hair out.
7. The churches in Missouri are really secretive and you can't be a member unless you can prove you are from Missouri. No others are allowed.
8. They do not integrate well at all. It's always Missouri this, Missouri that, never America this or America that.
9. If they ever throw a party, which is rare, only other Missoews will be there. They are very secretive and don't want other non-Missoews participating in their private lives at all.
10. frick the Missoews.

You forgot the international diamond trade and Hollywood. But I get it. The Mizzous own a lot of stuff. Its hard to keep track.

1. We’re an expansion team on the border of the conference in a region not exactly known for loving change.
2. We’re not good enough on the field to be a marquee match-up, but we’re not bad enough to get troll/sympathy support like kU.
3. Arkansas fans in particular seem to be very bothered by Mizzou in the SEC because they irrationally see Arkansas as a superior program but continue to lose to ol Mizzou regardless.

I've noticed this more than anything lately.

I like Missouri. Their fans have always been well behaved when they come here.
ETA: they seem to want a rivalry with us but I don't know that it's possible from a Kentucky perspective. We have more disdain for Arkansas than we do Missouri. Maybe in time with being a member. We've had a good game. But our Big 3 most hated will always be Tennessee, Louisville and Indiana.

They are interlopers whose only redeeming quality in the eyes of the SEC are the KC & STL TV markets. They have ZERO SEC DNA, and have no business being in the league.

It's because Mizzou in the SEC has never and will never make sense.

It makes a whole hell of a lot more sense than Rutgers, USC, and UCLA in the B1G. Or UCF, West Virginia, and Cincinnati in the Big 12.
It's expand or die. The SEC gets to maintain a contiguous footprint and put the best product on the field. The other options are being like the B1G or watching your conference fade into obscurity (like the ACC or the PAC, who were both too arrogant or stubborn to expand when they had good opportunities).

I'm curious why you think expansion is necessary, because I do not believe it is.
The SEC is never going to fade into obscurity if its major teams are televised. We still have the best players, best recruits, most passionate fanbases, and most successful teams. None of that is attributable to expansion. If anything, it's a product of demographics and history.

Well the conferences have expanded and will expand again at some point.
They didn't ask for your opinion because they don't care what you think.

Do you think the SEC expanded out of charity? If you want to see how your theory plays out, take a look at the Pac-12. If they had added Texas and Oklahoma when they had the chance, do you think we would be watching that conference collapse into nothing? If the SEC had stood pat at 10 or 12 teams, it would have been just a matter of time until schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Florida left the Mississippi States and Vanderbilts of the conference behind for greener pastures. Expansion ensured the SEC remains intact at its core.

These knuckledraggers don't see that if the SEC hadn't expanded and the media contract was average that the Alabamas and Georgias would be the ones eyeing those large paychecks and not the USCs, FSUs and Texas.
If the SEC were at 12, they would be lapped.
If the SEC were at 12, they would be lapped.
