DV accusation is not a mandatory arrest or pro-arrest in Alabama. Even then, those states that have mandatory arrest policies, there still needs to be probable cause for the arrest (although studies show they fail to find probable cause as the conviction rates are really low).
What cops do and what lawyers do are two entirely different things. 9/10 times, if a woman accuses a man of choking her, the man is getting arrested. The lawyers can sort out whether is actually happened.

He isn't worth the drama. Never has been.
Nick and the rest of the athletic department at Bama disagree.

I'll disagree on the failure to find PC. Uncooperative victims make it damned hard to get a conviction even when you've got good PC like a mark.
As an EMT, I went to one where the guy choked the victim so hard there was a clear imprint of his hand on her neck. By trial time, she'd completely changed her story. Said she was falling off the couch and he caught her . Total BS and yet the jury acquitted him.

Yep that part makes no sense. Either they had probable cause for the arrest or not.
Not sure about Alabama but in most states probable cause can mean a simple accusation by a female. Look at Junior Galette for example. He had video proving he did nothing wrong and still went to jail because woman said "he might have hit me."

Exactly dude wasn't worth all this in the first place. Bama/Saban have no one to blame for putting themselves in this situation other than the man in the mirror.
This is the situation you end up with by actively recruiting a guy kicked off another team for arrests. Had JT never been arrested and kicked off UGA, this is not a major problem....girl admits she lied so he is back on the team, end of story. Now Saban's hands are tied.
Help your own players as much as you can, but leave the second chance "people heppin" situations for teams like Louisville. JT was going to get another chance but it did not have to be at Alabama.

I have been in class since 8:35 this morning. Can you summarize this morning's events, please? Is it as simple as the "victim" recanting? I saw that she was arrested.

So you're saying the PD just arrested him based on her story? They didn't look for physical evidence when they made the arrest?
That's what I'm saying. That's what they DL in DV cases.

Pretty much all that needs to be said.
Hopefully lesson learned.....

Damn, you invest too much time in Alabama. When you grow up you will be the AU version of Harry Updyle.
You need some professional help.
Talk to your HS guidance councilor & see if they can help.

Haul in the top recruiting classes every damn year - focus on those guys. Leave the "projects" from other another team's cast-offs to get rehabilitated elsewhere.
Alabama is not in deperation mode to fill a roster spot with a high risk individual.
I hope the adminstration has learned a lesson.

Back in the 90's, Alabama passed a law that would allow LE to make arrests in DV violence cases without the victim pressing charges, if there were evidence of physical harm.
DV is one of the most dangerous situations for officers. Many times, once an arrest is realized, the victim tries to recant and turns on the officer as well.
