Beauty is you really have nothing to lose but teams playing you know they will never hear the end of it for losing.

LOL we would know.

I still care. A lot. I love the Gamecocks and although it goes almost completely against the grain with posters on here, I'm optimistic. I believe I'm more in line with most fans outside of the message board bunch. I don't give a damn about the board of trustees and don't believe they're the problem anymore. I think the situation has changed at Carolina. Since Spurrier and Hyman got the facilities improvements going its been different. The biggest problems right now are 1) the way Spurrier quit. His 2 to 3 year comment killed recruiting and momentum. 2) Hiring Muschamp. He destroyed what was left of team chemistry. His recruiting strategy left so many position groups in a bad way that its almost laughable. In comes Beamer. I feel he is the perfect person for the job. He doesn't view it as a stepping stone. His demeanor and attitude seem to be a hit with recruits and their families. He just has the right approach in my opinion. Hopefully it translates to wins sooner than later but we as fans need a little patience and less negativity. Certain areas of the roster are not good but the team has talent in lots of spots. I don't see that clemsin is that big of an obstacle to our success. The orange bastards are recruiting at a high enough level that we dont go after that many of the same recruits. And even when we do we still get some of em. The time for chicken little to yell the sky is falling is behind us. Muschamp and his stank are gone. I guess my outlook is like that of Sir Big Spur. A game rooster has no quit in him. He'll fight to the death. In 4-5 years i expect the program to be on its best footing since those 11-2 seasons and rising. There's no excuse.

Cincinatti has a really good football team. They've had really good football teams before. They are right next door to an in-state Goliath and also sandwiched between Michigan and Penn State on their flanks.

These days, it seems unlikely that new coaches get the time needed to really build a program if they do not have early success. It is a shame. The one thing I will say, Spurrier might have hurt leaving, but he also showed SC has a lot of potential.

For years when we were literally one of the worst teams in college football my dad and i went to all of the Memphis home games. He is the kind of guy that gets there early and doesnt leave until after the final horn. Brutal. Its silly and funny for a bit but after sitting there game after game watching some of the absolute worst football imaginable it really starts to become a drain. The only thing i miss about those days is traffic at the stadium was so easy to navigate.

It makes good seasons and big upsets a lot more special.

Imagine how boring it’s gotten to be Alabama fans. Plus the stress of always expecting to win and just 1-2 losses ruins the season.

That must suck

I try to just enjoy the wins and not dwell on the losses. The mortgage is due on the 1st either way.

In fact, it's almost fun being this bad. I mean eventually we will probably get back to a 6-6 or 7-5 type program, which I am okay with.

Basically me when Croom was our coach at State. When we lost to Maine I was just laughing my arse off. Of course it just makes the upsets that much better. Cheers and enjoy the season

Same, I used to get pissed when the hogs lost. Now I just get over it in a matter of minutes and move on about my day. I have pretty much become cumbersome. No reason to allow a sports to control your emotions like that. Hog fans have gone through a pretty rough time lately to say the least.

I’m the same way - especially after having kids. Little humans put things in perspective.

As I have gotten older, I can only laugh at the state of our program. When I was actually attending Carolina, and in my youth prior - these kinds of things made me LIVID. If the Gamecocks lost, it would basically ruin my entire week ahead. I couldn't watch any other CFB the rest of the weekend if we lost.

Now that I'm 33, I just don't care. In fact, it's almost fun being this bad. I mean eventually we will probably get back to a 6-6 or 7-5 type program, which I am okay with. We will never be a consistently great program, there are just too many obstacles.

It's refreshing having this frame of mind in regards to a bunch of 18-21 year olds playing a sport I have no control over.

#DearFacebook

I'm about the same age and I can relate to this. I laugh at anyone who suggests that we would be better off in the Big 12 or Big Ten because we would win more there. We haven't won shite since 1969 so we might as well get paid and be in the most exciting conference. Upsetting LSU, Georgia, or Bama once in awhile is a hell of lot more exciting than thumping Illinois or Kansas State.

Finally. A Carolina fan that accepts they had a few good years but are pretty much a shite program overall.

Yeah, well, and then there’s the Kentucky football fan’s experience. Imagine having your team’s biggest rival right on campus. The apathy of UK basketball fans towards the football program held it back for decades. It took humiliating long-term losing streaks to Tennessee (26 straight) and Florida (31) to show UK’s administration that something had to be done or we were going to become another Kansas or Duke. So, in a perserse way, we owe thanks to UTk and UF.

Just in time, hundreds of millions of athletic dollars were spent on the program and the ROI is starting to show results. Also, the NIL may level the playing field for many P5 programs. Everybody is 0-0 in the new era of college football that begins this week-end.

So take heart with UK fans that the future can be very different to the past. For those who are willing to spend the money, and UK and USC fans certainly are, the future promises to be bright. We lucked out by being in the SEC when things changed and we will reap the rewards that go with being the Cocks and Cats of the Walk.

You're going to cry later this season when we beat you with a GA at QB....
