Just have solace in the fact that your program has as much local support as Clemson. The second best program in the country the last 10 years. Kinda sad for them.

When you suck, the big wins are a lot more fun. 2005 Florida and 2007 Tennessee, for example

Welcome to my world. Look I've been a Vandy fan for close to 50 years with not much success in there. But it is still enjoyable. My wellbeing doesn't depend on the how we did. I can cheer for the players and then go on with my life. Actually kind of admire the our players even more for going against semi-pro talent filled teams week after week. Takes character.

second, you will be fine in a few years as I hope we will be.

1998: 1-10
1999: 0-11

Outside of Vandy, I can't think of another SEC team who has had a winless season in the past 25 years.

The truth is USCe football has NEVER been good. If you look back into the 70's and 80's, you'll see a lot of 5-6, 6-5 mixed in with an occasional 8-3. And this was BEFORE they joined the SEC. Spurrier is the only coach who has ever done anything of note.

Between 1969 and 1988, USCe made only 7 bowl games. Guess what? They lost all 7.

It is fun being constantly atrocious. What sucks is being atrocious some years and being decent or good other years. OM football has been a constant roller coaster for the past 20 years.

It's harder for me to laugh at the state of our program when I'm writing checks to the Gamecock Club each year and getting shitty football results in the process

Same, I used to get pissed when the hogs lost.

Probably because the hogs used to be a decent, respectable football team.

I love going to Vandy games. Nobody expects a win. It's a quaint little stadium. It's actually one of the more underrated SEC experiences.

If we couldn't draw the talent that we do, I'd say I agree. But damn, we really should be doing a lot better than what we have. So, I'm kind of stuck in a potentially miserable spot every season.

I haven’t given a dime back to this school since graduating and never will. Much less donate to fricking athletics, which we clearly don’t care about. Sorry if that makes me a bad alumnus.

Love that gif. It makes me smile. Don't worry, it won't be too much longer that you have another gloriously coifed qb like Tanneyhill come and resurrect your program.

e will never be a consistently great program, there are just too many obstacles.

Clemson has managed to do it. Do y'all have more inherent obsacles than they do? SPurrier managed to win 33 games in a 3 year span at USC and was way past his prime when he did that. A good coach could be plenty consistent at USC imo.

What are the obstacles though? Seems like South Carolina could be as successful in football as they want to be. Not far from a lot of great talent, etc.

Long story short? Leadership.

Our BoT is a good ole boy favor network for politicians.

So our BOT has no vested interest in the school’s success and keeping the Carolina in USC.

A bad BOT leads to a bad University President who doesn’t represent the interest of the Alumni and Donors.

When the University President doesn’t represent the interests of the right parties, what they value gets thrown to the wayside and you wind up with a bad Athletic Director who doesn’t belong in his position.

When you have an unqualified AD you go from having a top ten football program and top 3 baseball program to the shitstorm we’ve been the last few years.

SC will be back at some point but I have definitely been there.

When I was at A&M we lost 1 home game in 4 years and expected to blow through everyone. Then the slow decline started in '95 with some bright spots but I would get so upset when A&M lost. The turning point for me was the '02 Tech game when we blew an 18 point 4th Quarter lead and lost in Double OT 48-47 on a missed XP. To top it off it was a 1pm game early in the year and it was 100 degrees for almost 5 hours.

I left that game so pissed. Then I looked over at my wife and saw the look on her face knowing she was going to have to put up with me for the rest of the weekend and I realized I needed to step back from it. I started looking at games for the experience of seeing my family and enjoying everything else with the game itself as the frosting and not the cake. Only way I survived the Fran and Sherman years.

Now A&M is getting good again and of course we get pounded about how we have never won anything when I remember how good we used to be. Still I am not going to let what some 18-22 year olds do dictate my mental state anymore. Probably having kids of my own helped as well, you really realize what matters and how insignificant things like CFB are.

As the creator of that one, thank you. (I found the original vid and gif-ed it...)

I've never seen it used outside of this forum. If it ever does I'll laugh/be stoked.

I know that has to be frustrating. My Mom's entire family is from SC and that's where we would spend Summers as a kid. Even mix of USC and Clemson folks with some Citadel grads (my Mom went to the Med Univ of SC in Charleston to be an RN).

Never understood why USC hasn't had more consistent success. The BOT issues makes sense but it seems odd that USC has less control than Clemson but I guess every state has its own dynamic. Lord knows Texas and A&M have an insanely complex relationship, especially with so many other public universities here.

I almost always root for either USC or Clemson as long as they aren't playing A&M. I used to be a Clemson fan over USC but honestly it's less interesting to me for some reason now that they have had so much success so I find myself rooting for USC when they play now in that game, especially since A&M is now in the SEC. Would laugh my arse off if you guys can find a way to win that game in the next couple years.

It's a relief in a way too. If you get a big win like y'all did over Georgia in 2019, it makes it all the more surprising and fun

Whether it ever escapes the boundaries of the Rant,
any gif that brings a chuckle and wears well,
puts it in the highly worthy category.
