I’m not triggered

LSU was not only better than 2019 Bama, they were easily better than any of Saban’s Bama teams.

In my honest opinion, I don't think so.

Most of the injuries were on the defenses. If LSU's defense gets better, I think they hold Alabama down more.

If Alabama's defense improves, ... I still don't think they stop Burrow. Call me a homer if you like, and I fully admit I love the fact that he was our QB last year. But I've never seen anything like what he did.

Remember that scene in Spider-man, where Peter Parker said he couldn't play before, so he doesn't think it would be right to play now? It's like that happened to Burrow, but he said "frick it, I'm playing".

Didn't have to stop him, just slow him up. The additions on defense would have helped. An uninjured Tua probably gets off to a better start than he did.

I don't think that Alabama would have slowed him much. Nobody did. His worst game was probably against Auburn, and he was 32-42 for 321 yds, with 1 TD and an int. Also ran for a TD.

We're saying LSU has an uninjured defense too, right? Delpit was fairly ineffective in the middle portion of the season, if you get him back at full strength it helps out the defense.

I don't think Tua was hampered, other than that weird fumble (and I think that was nerves, not injury). He did fine. That late first half INT wasn't an injured throw, it was a healthy mistake.

I do agree with the basic premise that Alabama was actually the toughest team on the schedule, and the biggest challenge. I think if you swap the teams, Alabama probably wins the playoff, due to depth and talent. Unlike Willy T, I'm willing to give credit to the Tide.

I just think Joe Burrow in 2019 was basically an Act of God, for lack of a better term. The stars lined up, the portals opened, etc... and for 1 season we saw the greatest QB play in college football history. He was in the zone from the first play of the opener, until the final play of the championship game.

I don't know man, he threw for 400+ yards and 4 touchdowns and had a better game against LSU than Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts. He may not have been a 100%, but he was close to it.

Does not bode well for the future if a badly injured, fragile Tua is better than a 100% Jones. Frightening.

I still think LSU would have been better BUT that is taken nothing away from BAMA.

If Tua had stayed health and they made the playoffs no doubt in my mind it would have been LSU vs BAMA in NC game!

BAMA was still better than OU even without Tua.

The only other challenge for LSU would have been Ohio St
But Ohio St couldn't close the deal and Fields with a late int when WR broke wrong route

A healthy Alabama may have been the second best team in the country, I don't know. That said, they weren't going to be seeded any higher than 4th and would have play LSU in the first round as OSU and Clemson had no losses.

Very similar teams if you take away the QB and receiver positions. However, LSU had gigantic advantages at those positions. Burrow was far better than a pretty good Tua, and while Bama had a great WR group, they had none in the same class as Chase. And Without Chase LSU had just as good a group as Bama.

LSU played an uninjured Bama this year. Tua was fine. He even ran the ball. But LSU was clearly the better team.

WR: Slight Bama advantage

We had three first round draft choices at WR. So did Bama. But LSU had JaMarr Chase, who was head and shoulders better than any other receiver on the field.

This was a BIG advantage for LSU.

One more stop or an onside kick and LSU fans would be crying in their gumbo again, and they know it.

Maybe, but there was more ersatz about Bama’s points in that game than LSU’s. LSU dominated the game on the stat sheet. The truth is that LSU relaxed a little after being up 20 points at halftime, let Bama get almost back in the game, then crushed them.

I was at Bryant Denny. Bama fans were pouring out of the game with two minutes left. Bama NEVER had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to tie or take the lead.

I don’t disagree

People forget that LSU wasn’t at full strength for the Bama game, either

Not to the extent of Bama in terms of missing personnel but we didn’t have all of our starters

I know if if was a skiff, but if our left guard makes the block on the bama right DE on the Bama 35 on the first drive of the 3rd quarter, or if Burrow steps up just a yard, Burrow hits Chase for a first down, and we go in to make 40-13. Game over.
