I have never been to Oxford or Fayetteville, but I have been to Starkville. Even though I thought the campus and people were wonderful, the city and what it offers outside of the campus was lacking. Anyone else has thoughts?

Yes, but it's not a lot worse.

Arkansas is the only campus I have never been to. As an MSU student, I would have to say that Miss. State and Starkville do lack some of the charm others do. There are some positives, but fewer than the rest.

4th post. Possibly legitimate question that will likely end in flames. :golfclap:

Starkville is a shitty town but I've had fun almost every time I've been.

Best time: Partied with the baseball team after a Saturday game. Multiple NCAA violations. There's a reason they lost the game on Sunday.

Worst: 2010 AU game. The elation from the win was eclipsed by waiting in traffic for three hours after the game. Let me be clear, three hours in traffic on campus.

Its great to go to Starksville for a football game because you normally leave a victor.

Your mom seems to like it a lot. Especially when we have to repeatedly run her off the street corners.

I feel bad for Starkville and MSU. State fans are really cool and good people. Their football and basketball programs are VERY respectable and the school and its athletic programs reach their full potential. Having said that, Starkville is an isolated wasteland. Starkville has the unfortunate distinction of being the only small SEC city under 30,000 that isn't near a major interstate highway. The city and school have absolutely zero geographic advantages.
