Heather Dinich Publicly Calls Out Heisman Trophy Voters Before 2026 Season

ESPN college football expert Heather Dinich issued a public plea to Heisman Trophy voters heading into the 2026 season...
quote:

“No, Jeremiah Smith is (the better player),” Dinich said. “I’m looking at you Heisman voters. (It’s) NOT a quarterback award. Jeremiah Smith said that yesterday. When you look at what he’s done and you combine his physical attributes and his athleticism with the fact that as a freshman and a sophomore, over 1,000 yards each year.

“He’s on pace, if he has another pace with over 1,200 receiving yards, to shatter every Ohio State receiving record. Ryan Day said this yesterday… he has a chance to leave a legacy at that school with two national titles. And, they can do it.”

So she’s pushing to give someone a heisman trophy before the season even starts and OTHER voters are the problem?

OSU must spend as much money promoting their receivers as they do paying their receivers. And breaking school records shouldn't earn you the Heisman.

Why is she talking instead of making samiches for the men?

You dumb broad. They are 2 years removed from Travis Hunter winning and 6 from DeVonta Smith winning. I don't think they need you reminding them that it isn't a QB award.

Granted, Travis Hunter winning it was a joke.

So was everything about the 2020 season, including the Heisman.

Including LSU. What a joke of a program.

Heather, what about all the linemen who are better at their position than any QB, RB or WR?

Heather Dinich and the word "expert" should never be used in the same sentence.

I dislike Dinich more than any college analyst since Trev Albert. She is so smug and arrogant.

I believe it was Alabama sports writer Cecil Hurt, RIP, who said you could walk into any sports bar in America and find someone more qualified than Heather Dinich.

And here I thought the award was based on performance during the award year, not career.

Being a Heisman favorite has become a curse. Seems like
it’s been many years since a top three candidate has won.
I don’t think for about 20 years

I do agree that it is not a quarterback award…and it certainly shouldn’t be limited to the national championship team. However, how can she justify promoting a single player, before a single snap has been taken?

She is a reporter. That’s rarely equates to “expert.”
