We know it's good for the SEC but is it good for CFB in general? (or is it further regionalizing the sport where other fans don't give a shite)

These fans certainly don't think so. Lots of butthurt about a Bama-UGA replay.

Well if either Michigan or Cincy had done their job we wouldn't be talking about it. We can't blame the SEC for the other playoff teams sucking.

Absolutely not but I could give 2 fricks less if the rest of the country is interested.

Tell everyone else to get good. Its not the SECs fault that Oklahoma gets is arse whipped every time it makes the playoffs, Ohio State is the only B1G team that can consistently hang, the ACC is completely dependent on Clemson, and the PAC-12 hasn't had a seriously great team in a decade

Bama-Georgia 2017 and Bama-Clemson 2015 & 2016 were by far the best championship games of the playoff era. If you can't appreciate those games because of the location of the teams, then I don't know what to tell you

Probably not. But nobody can rationally argue that this isn't "fair" or isn't the game with the two best/most deserving teams this year.

Bigger picture it would probably be better if the coaching and player talent started getting a little more dispersed across the country to prevent college football from turning into a regional SEC affair. The SEC is just absolutely dominating recruiting and has been for some time. This result is not surprising.

You are right. The sport has become regional plus Columbus Ohio.

Does it matter?

Look, if they had kept the BCS, then today Alabama would be playing Michigan (presuming the same #1 & #2). They added a playoff because 2011 had an all-SEC championship game.

Since then they've had 2 (2017 and 2021) in the 8 playoffs (25%), which is way more frequent than the BCS had (1 in 16 years)

Yet another kneejerk reaction that has been the status quo of college football since 2008.

The NBA somehow managed to survive the Celtics dynasty, and MLB survived the Yankees. College football will be just fine.

I still think they massaged the final rankings to avoid an SEC rematch in the semis.

But to a larger point, I would think the other conferences would be chomping at the bit at an expanded playoff. We were pretty close this year to having the SEC and two non-power conferences in the final four.

It baffles me how they think putting the brakes on the expansion helps them. The reality is the top of the SEC is going to continue to get there as long as the results on the field hold. An expansion does not change that, but it would keep their fans interested for at least one more week.

-Is having both the Speaker of the House and House Minority Leader from California good for America?

No, it is not good for the sport of college football. If the playoffs are expanded that will give more teams a shot. How much of a shot to be determined.

HS talent is stacked in the footprint of the SEC. The big ten people of course claim it is all due to illegal recruiting, never stopping to think - where is the talent in the big 10 footprint? The PAC being down for so long has caused many West coast guys to seek more competitive surroundings. Alabama and Georgia have taken advantage of that in recruiting.

Some complain that they have already seen Alabama and Georgia play. That is true but isn't the the idea of the CFP to match the four BEST teams, regardless of the regular season?

I personally would like to see the rest of the country step up, football wise, and make for more competitive playoffs

If Oregon and Washington were playing?
I'd do something else besides view... Like give the neighbors cat a bath. Hell I doubt I'd watch Florida State-Clumpson

Maybe the writers can pick Cincinnati to be their own Champion so that everyone feels better.

Those networks got behind Cincy & Michigan and how did that work out for them?

I don't think an all SEC national championship game is good for college football in general. It will result in less eyes and promotion.

However, I think Alabama and Georgia are clearly the two best teams in college football. In that respect, it is good for college football as there have been many years in the past where the two best teams didn't meet for all the marbles (1997 Michigan-Nebraska, 1990 Georgia Tech-Colorado, 2007 LSU-Georgia, etc.)
