Yeah I'd imagine if he can return LSU to being a great program he will be richly rewarded.

I fully expect to see $2M+/yr contracts thrown around in the coming years, maybe even by 2025-2026 seasons.

pretty sure Leach didn't have any TEs on his roster. So I would assume that Ms St will be hitting the portal hard for TEs.

This or try to convert some players from other positions we are deep on that want playing time.

Our defense will be nasty. We just need a halfway competent offense to have a decent season

Ms St defenses generally are.

Seems Arnett is going after guys who want to make a name for themselves. Also his position coaches have deep MS ties like Bumphis and Friend.

MS ties isn't going to help you recruit talent at skill positions. And if you are honest with yourself, you know that. It's great to won't to lock down your state. I have heard the speech.

Now, do you actually think we are not going to get the players we want now? Come on Delta.

a more balanced offense.

It's a run heavy. No answer me this.

- Marks has been injured for 2 years. Who you got. Cause now, he will be taking even harder licks and more. You got a true freshman and another kid (pretty good.) App St had to use 4 to 6 this year.

- When are you going to find enough TEs to run that system? Every stop he has been at... 8 to 9.

You will not have a roster built for that before spring when they need to be there to learn that totally new offense. 90% totally different plays.

It is his job to make the decisions and take the heat for it.

Oh so tell a WR you are now a TE.

How many do you expect to hit the portal after spring when they are made to go into a 3 point stance to block a LB?

I would call it that if you doubled his salary or something.

He was making ~$850k/year at Arizona, so it wasn't some crazy salary hike to get him. He got a $200-300k raise

A whole bunch of Leach recruited players are going to hit the portal, book it.

They apparently can’t stand leach or his offense, but want to keep his talent

Letting boosters make hires with no AD in place is a recipe for disaster

Every single thread you have started on the topic of our OC hire (it's been a lot) has centered on the fact that you don't believe our players can play in any system but the air raid. You even said it in this post. I'm simply pointing out that good players are good, regardless of system, and we have good players.

No, they all got a lot of experience. Wait til some of them realize they are not going to be on the field at all. Transfers everywhere.

What else is new? We had receivers transferring to get away from the Air Raid. The ones I'm talking about are the big play guys who didn't get enough vertical looks, those guys will shine.

Garbage hire, destruction of a program by neophyte coach in way over his head

I mean if they are bulky and want playing time then yea???

Or maybe some players on the hands team that want to try it. Good coaches can find them.

Had he wanted to move away from an air raid to more run, why not hire a Meacham type for at least a season. If that does not work, make the move at the end of the next season where the new OC would have time.

Then we would have to listen to your bitching about MSU firing coaches too soon. That’s why.

Nice. We were #1 for 6 weeks in 2014. Only a year away from that if your prediction holds true.

There is no way to know this. He won his only game as HC and kept our recruiting class together. Made decent position coach hires. OC did well at his previous stops.

We have a favorable schedule and talent returning next season. If OC adapts to what we have we will be fine. We don’t have to use TEs just because he used them before. He didn’t recruit TEs at his previous 2 schools, that’s what they had when he took the job.

The question will be if he is a coach that adapts to what he has, or is hard headed and runs “his” system without proper personnel.

With Sunbelt talent. What do you think is going to happen with SEC talent? State will continue to own A&M

I feel like we are looking long term past Rogers. Parsons fits the system

I could see letting Rogers start and using Parsons in certain formations to get him experience for 2024

Unless Parson proves to be better and can beat out Rogers. I like Will but I think he has reached his ceiling. From what I’ve heard Parson has Dak potential

As fans we are looking to only next year becagse we return a lot. But Arnett has to make hires to fit his long term vision, not just one for Leachs system for next year. After next season we start over regardless, so hopefully our OC can do well enough to win 8 or so games next year while preparing for the future.

MSU doesn’t have an air raid identity without Leach. That was never our style and it only worked due to Leachs popularity. Hire an Air Raid OC, recruits won’t be attracted to it like they would with Leach.

I think changing back to our old identity like we used under Mullen long term will be better. A more spread style offense and strong defense.
