I fully expect Barbay to adjust his play calling to the athletes we have on campus, just like every other new OC hire in the history of football, and hiring an OC with the intent of firing them one year later is ridiculous.
I never said with the intent. I said If he wanted to run it more there was a way to do that with out changing the whole system. And that if it did not work, he could have then made the change to a different system.
That is a vet group returning trained in an air raid. Not a prostyle. The Roster is not even tooled for it.

Just because Woody Marks can catch balls out of the backfield doesn't mean he can't take handoffs. All 3 of our RBs were over 5.0 ypc this season.
Are you making arguments up in your head to just argue with yourself? Who said anything about the RBs not being able to run? Nobody.
However, you do have a lack of running backs. you are short. And now moving to a run heavy offense.

We have athletes at receiver who were severely underutilized in the air raid
No, they all got a lot of experience. Wait til some of them realize they are not going to be on the field at all. Transfers everywhere.

That remains to be seen, but it won't be because our good skill players weren't good enough.
LOL.. agruing points nobody is arguing but you.

So he didn't get a major pay bump going from Arizona to LSU? Surprising.

Love the hire, our offense didn’t win us a single game the last few years outside of Auburn in 2021 and LSU in 2020. Pretty much all our wins were owed to the defense so I like the shift.

Lots of concern about State's roster fit:
This guys may be good for that very thing.
He has ran successful offenses with and without a TE. He doesn't need a running QB and remains effective but it helps. State has one of each on the roster albeit the mobile one a true FR.
State's roster is fine just like it is but I fully expect a couple more additions (QB&TE). They have added to the roster almost every week since December other than bowl week. Heck the week of Leach's passing they added a couple 4 star DB's.
This team will be ready come the fall. Then we shall see how it plays out. I am optimistic.

Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. No tight ends on roster. Portal closing and you are going to have a complete rebuild with no full spring for the transfers.
Why ?
Boosters running the program, fire Leachs whole staff, burn everything to the ground for what was a ten win veteran team ?
Are there really MSU fans dumb enough to think these moves are smart ?

If anyone cared about your opinions you wouldn't have had to start an alter.

Do you know how many TEs are on APP St's roster? 8.
He used TEs at both stops. The Central Michigan roster last year had 9.
You have 2 QBs on Roster for spring.
You better hope to get a lot of TEs and a QB and a RB.

If they like what you just said or not. It is facts. This is the making of a blow up.

Yes they are facts, the fan boys being spoon fed hype by the pay site company line haven’t figured it out yet
Arnett just destroyed the program and in stunning clueless fashion. How many times has MSU won ten games in their history ? It was on the table if they had just kept the staff and roster together and brought in a air raid OC. flush it down the crapper
Maybe that Leach guy knew what he was doing after all ?
I’m sure first time coach Arnett and the boosters running the program are much smarter.

Our defense will be nasty. We just need a halfway competent offense to have a decent season
Seems Arnett is going after guys who want to make a name for themselves. Also his position coaches have deep MS ties like Bumphis and Friend.
Seems his vision is back to recruiting the state hard, good defense and a more balanced offense. We will see how it goes. I think it’s either going to be great or crash and burn I don’t see it ending up in the middle. It will depend on how good Arnett is at evaluating these hires because he isn’t targeting “safe, proven names” from big programs

Lose to MSU but beat LSU. The circle will be unbroken.

So MSU is abandoning air raid already? Man talk about major offensive shifts there back and forth

Doesn't almost every coach who leaves one school to another receive a pay bump? That's not the same as "money whipping a coach," or at least not what most people would call it
Posted on 1/12/23 at 1:45 pm to lsufball19
I would call it that if you doubled his salary or something.
Posted on 1/12/23 at 1:47 pm to lsufball19
Yes , they have dismantled the air raid and fired all of Leachs staff. The boosters want to go back to what has made them a loser for 120 years, run first attack.
They also in all of their wisdom want to recruit mainly in state rather than nation wide like Leach did, because LSU, OLE Miss and Alabama won’t still get players from Mississippi like they don’t have more nil money ?
Them Mississippi boosters and arnett are reeeeel smart

He went from $850k at Arizona in 2021 to $1.2M at LSU last year. 50% raise almost
Goes up $50k each year until 2026
2023 - $1.25M
2024 - $1.3M
2025 - $1.35M
2026 - $1.4M
This wont matter though if he has the kind of year people are expecting. Win a title or make a very deep Omaha run and he will probably get paid big time. He knows what he has to do to get the big time money.

Yeah I'd imagine if he can return LSU to being a great program he will be richly rewarded.
