Who knows, sounds like a good hire to me, but we'll see next year. Shouls at least be a little more balanced.

You will be run heavy.
Not only that, isn't this a system the whole of the SEC is moving away from? A McElwain tree guy

Haven’t looked him up, but why is this considered a good hire?

Not very well at the moment. He used TEs a lot in his offense at App St, and I'm pretty sure Leach didn't have any TEs on his roster. So I would assume that Ms St will be hitting the portal hard for TEs.
This is probably the most glaring issue. We do have a couple dudes in the 6-4 220 range at WR right now who could maybe fill the gap a bit, but far from true TE size and skillset.
Rogers could work in the offense, Chase Brice wasn't exactly a threat to run this year and App State still did numbers.
We have good RBs and after 3 years of almost 100% Pass Blocking, I'm sure our OL is excited to get to be the aggressor 40 times a game.

It's interesting. But I don't understand why you do this move.
You have given the new OC 6 days to find 3 plus TEs, looks like another RB, and 2 QBs. This is a new system and Spring is going to be huge! Except for you gave him 6 days to get it done.
Had he wanted to move away from an air raid to more run, why not hire a Meacham type for at least a season. If that does not work, make the move at the end of the next season where the new OC would have time.
To me, this is a wasted season. Could be wrong though.

Jjdoc hates the hire. I instantly love it. A+ hire.

The Arnett destruction continues
Mcelwain garbage.
Takes a veteran ten win roster and flushes it straight down the crapper
Thank goodness he fired every Leach staff member to bring in a 3-5 sunbelt run first OC

Oh yeah, we're scared of the guy that put up a whole 17 points on us w/7 of that coming on a 30 yard drive b/c Haynes gonna Haynes.
2022 FBS Talent Rankings:
Aggie - 4
Appy - 91
Miss St - 29
You should be scared...if he can put up 17 on you with the 4th best talent in the Sunbelt...imagine what he can do to you with SEC talent. They nearly doubled Aggie in offensive yards (over doubling them in rushing yards).

Five out of the last seven and two in a row, when Jimbo was supposed to conquer the world.
A&M can call state daddy. It's appropriate. We just struggling to come to grips with having a gay kid.

Still big mad about the egg bowl, I see.
At least we aren't paying our guy 9 million to lose 5 out of 6.

I fully expect Barbay to adjust his play calling to the athletes we have on campus, just like every other new OC hire in the history of football, and hiring an OC with the intent of firing them one year later is ridiculous.
Your concern about our players fitting the new system is overstated, imo.
Just because Woody Marks can catch balls out of the backfield doesn't mean he can't take handoffs. All 3 of our RBs were over 5.0 ypc this season. We have athletes at receiver who were severely underutilized in the air raid (Tulu Griffin is going to explode in this new system). Our Offensive Linemen's jobs get considerably easier with tighter splits and less Pass Pro snaps, so not really concerned here either.
Now can Rogers put it all together and have success? That remains to be seen, but it won't be because our good skill players weren't good enough.

I'd imagine your baseball coach is comparatively well compensated.

This right here.
At CMU in 2021 he was 54/46 run/pass split and didn’t really use a TE at all. So we will just move Harmon to TE (a 4-star WR we have who was a projected TE out of HS)
He’s an adjust to his personal guy. The run heavy this year had a lot to do with mid season injuries and head coach meddling.
We have the personal to run this offense, it isn’t as big a shift as people think it is because Leach was recruiting more run focused guys anyway and our older guys were recruited for a similar style of offense by Moorhead.
Love the hire, our offense didn’t win us a single game the last few years outside of Auburn in 2021 and LSU in 2020. Pretty much all our wins were owed to the defense so I like the shift.
Also this is great for Will. Will is not talented enough to run the our air raid in the SEC and have everything on his shoulders. Should be good for him to have some pressure off. Barbay doesn’t run the QB so Will fits the offense.
OL wise this scheme actually fires our current starting OL better than the air raid does, I do worry about going forward since we pretty exclusively recruited tackles since Leach got here.

M'kay.
Arnett will be fired in 3 years. He's about to set Moo back a decade.

Not really. He’s about market for what baseball coaches are paid in the SEC now. 6 million over 5 years. Less than Corbin, Vitello, Schloss, Van Horn, and Lemonis. Around the same as Bianco and O’Sullivan. A little more than Thompson. 9 SEC coaches make 7 figures. Johnson is right around the middle of the SEC in yearly salary.
